When we decided to visit this place we had great plans of getting dressed and look as classy as we can. So when we reached we had the perfect attire as we wished yet because of the unexpected "Bombayi ki barish " we were completely drenched and soaked in water. Rains literally had washed away all our excitement. Yet the beautiful, classy junky vibe of the Glocals managed to get our excitements and expectations back on track. This place has a huge brilliant bar right in the middle of the resto. The who place has a really casual classy and junky vibe. The food that they serve is a fusion of traditional Indian especially Maharashtrian and South Indian flavours with classic American dishes. So here's what we tried at this place :
Sangria:
With a cloudy weather and your loved on the side, this classic drink will give a perfect start to your meal. The sangria consisted of Sula red wine with chopped apples giving a fruity punch to it.
Boston Mule:
This cocktail is one heck of a beautiful drink. It has a beautiful light yellow texture with some sweet and refreshing flavours of elderflower along with mint and ginger blended with the classic Jim Beam bourbon adding a brilliant twist to this cocktail.
Pear Cobbler:
Jim Beam mixed with caramel and peach adds sweet flavours to the drink along with the cloves bringing in a zing to the drink.
Nachos:
The nachos were served piping hot making the nachos taste even more creamy along with sour cream on the top. The only thing that was lacking in these was tangy flavour because of the lack of beans in the nachos.
Kothimbir Vadi:
These kothimbir Vadi chips are must try at this place. They have that typical mahashtrian zing in them, served with thecha mayo bringing in a modern twist to these classic vadis .
Tokri Chaat:
The Chaat was served on slim baked Rotis given a shape of a tokri. The Chaat had a dominant sweet tamarind flavour along with a hint of green chutney in it. The little bit of curd keeps a perfect balance between these two flavours.
Grilled Pander & Bell Pepper in Peri Peri:
The dish was complete platter with veggies, corn & the grilled paneer. The paneer was absolutely juicy and had a dominant spicy flavour.
The pizzas at Glocals are prepared in a wood fired oven. The crust is rally thin and juicy. We decided to go for a veg and a non veg one.
Vegetable Ultimo:
The pizza had the perfect balance of the garlic sautéed mushrooms and the tanginess along with the cheese this pizza was an absolute delicacy.
Barbeque chicken:
The pizza had some nice smokiness in it with some spicy barbeque chicken and loads of cheese ! Well what else do you need on a pizza ?!
Grilled Indian Salmon with wasabi cream sauce:
The salmon had beautiful cloudy pink colour from the inside indicating it was perfectly cooked and the grilled outside added the smoky flavour to the salmon. When eaten with the creamy mashed potatoes and the tangy and spicy wasabi cream sauce the flavours absolutely delectable.
Cottage steak with soy Bolognese & herb sauce:
The paneer steak steak was crunchy and juicy from the outside and was like a bhurji from the inside. The vegetarian version of the Italian Bolognese was absolutely brilliant where the tomato was the dominant ingredient instead of the usual bolognese sauce where meat is the hero of the sauce. The sauce added that tanginess and strong garlic flavours to the paneer bhurji. When eaten with herb sauce an absolute Zion is created in your mouth. Long story short, if you are a paneer lover then this dish is a must try !
Firni crème brulee:
The fusion of this two ever loved desserts is brilliant. With a thick caramel layer on the top and a beautiful malai firni at the bottom, boy o boy this dessert was absolute delight.
Waffle brownie with ice cream:
These waffles had the consistency and flavours of a brownie. Topped with nuts and chocolate sauce and ice cream on the side the taste of the blend of these two legendary desserts was...
Read moreWhat happens when global is fused with local? It gives us ‘Glocal’, which basically aims to cater to the food needs of today’s ‘global local.’
Glocal Junction does precisely this. It’s more than a restaurant; it’s concept that is driven by the new-age hangout needs. Well-lit naturally, the interiors and the atmosphere create an ambience that helps you to unwind. Or to meet deadlines with a mug of beer and snacks on the side. What we were served: Soya Mattar Samosa - Soya Granule Samosa is a small twist to the traditional filling of potatoes. Instead of potato masala, they add soya granules peas masala in the samosa. This will be any vegetarian’s delight if they move on from potato samosas. Green peas with soya bean as filling sounds great and delicious too.
Kothimbir Wadi with Thecha Mayo - A crispy coriander fritter, this Kothimbir Vadi recipe is an indian delight. Said that, what if these are served in the form of fries with traditional Thecha in the guise of mayo. Jaw-dropping, isn’t it? Enjoy this scrumptious Maharashtrian snack wedded with American style! Shout out!
Grilled Paneer and Bell Pepper in Piri Piri - Piri Piri Paneer...3 Ps are some music to ears, aren't they? Basic cottage cheese cubes tossed in piri piri sauce and grilled with finesse is a subtle reliable dish every table has.
Vegetable Saoji Slider – Sliders are a great way to stretch out a big amount veggies and spice filled Saojis. Mini burgers with glocal twist lemon mayo and vegetable patty flavoured with vidharbha spices accompanied by local chips. Crisp patty sandwiched between fresh buns is a delight to binge on!
Kadhai Mushroom on Potato Roastie - Kadai Mushroom is a very delicious, flavorful, Indian style dish prepared with mushrooms and goes very well with chapatis, parathas. Did you ever think of having it with potato and cheese roasti? These pan-fried, golden potato patties with onion and cheese make a delicious side dish to Kadai mushrooms. Potatoes perfected with mushrooms!
Kalkatta Paan Cheesecake - Prepare your mouth to be hugged as this is the best cheesecake we have had! The signature Kolkata paan cheesecake is a match made in heaven. The idea was to create something new and interesting by infusing paan in something unexpected like cheesecake and trust us, it is heavenly!
Hazelnut Torte - Rich and truffle-like in texture, with the warm aroma of toasted hazelnuts, a hint of orange, and a layer of ganache on top, this is one of those desserts that embodies decadence. If you’re going to order a chocolate dessert, why not go all out, right?
Chili Monk – It is a really confusing drink. It had a sweet base and was topped with a green chili giving it the desired chili flavour as in the name and yet good enough to be ordered again.
Green Apple and Passion Fruit Iced Tea - Exotic, sweet passionfruit syrup infuses the golden taste of green apple for a glass of summer passion. Let the exotic taste of our fruity hand-blended iced tea do the talking!
Constructive Suggestions:
Samosa patty needs to be thicker so that they don’t absorb more oil. We understand the local way of having a samosa is deep frying it but we can think global here
Saojis are expected to be spicier yet able to distinguish the individual taste of every spice added to it. That’s what they are known for.
Potato Roasti is a brilliant idea but serve it on a bed of kitchen paper or dry the oil out because potato absorbs more oil and the added cheese sheds out its oil as well. Anyway, a masterstroke!
Green Apple and Passion Fruit Iced Tea needs more of passion fruit syrup as apple had a strong taste and outsmarts that of passion fruit
In a nutshell, Glocal Junction, with its unimpeachable cuisine, elaborate bar menu and simple-manicured interiors is providing this city with a captivating drinking and dining space that allows its guests to enjoy the virtue of being local at heart.
