KNOCK KNOCK by Mastani Pavbhaji — Restaurant in Mumbai

Have had Pav bhaji at various places and tried a few varieties too like red, black & green bhaji but have never seen or heard of a place that serves more than 45 varieties of bhaji and almost 25+ varieties of masala Pav. Happened to spot Mastani Pav bhaji in Kandivali and I have become a fan now. This place serves some unique dishes which u won’t get anywhere in mumbai. So if you are a foodie who loves to try new dishes and doesn’t mind going an extra mile to explore some unique food then immediately head to this place. The place is small but has super great potential. It’s neat and clean and has a small seating area.

The menu tempted us to try so many things and we just wanted to eat it all but we had to zero down on one dish so chose the Kolhapuri style Pav bhaji. This was like a khada bhaji which had Kolhapuri spices and some cheese and condiments. The red hot fried chilly added to the garnish beauty and it looked amazing. Though it was red and looked hot, it was not over spicy. It was moderately spiced and was easily edible by all. The taste was phenomenal. Came with 3 Pavs, salad & papad. A complete meal in itself. This is a must try and do not miss this at all when u visit them. Also tried the coriander & cheese masala Pav sandwich…. Never ever tried something so good. I have no words to describe how good this was. Again a must try here. We were stuffed to the brim with just these 2 dishes and couldn’t eat a morsel more. Satisfied yet longing for more …. That’s the feeling I have now. Can’t wait to go back to try more. The buttery flavours are tempting me to visit them...

I visited in November third week. The most irritating thing here is staff, cook and owner. All are very ignorant, careless and indifferent towards customers. Thrice we told waiter boy to switch on fan. Order repeated twice. Water and salad delivered after repeated reminders. I felt as if they are feeding us for free.

Second the place is extremely extremely filthy. Handwash area was yuck. Hygiene conscious people must strictly avoid. We literally felt like vomiting. We all fell sick next day.

Worst part is one man waiting outside for parcel pickup (not delivery boy but customer). He kept staring like anything. I felt so horrible/uncomfortable. Later I exchanged my seat with husband.

And alas !!!finally pav bhaji served in deep steel plate was just below average. No where it was near to Bhagwati pav bhaji. I felt very uneasy after returning home. Ek bar toh muze aisa laga ki aaj se main mera favourite pav bhaji khana hi band kar du.

Won't recommend to anyone. Won't recommend to my enemies also. I am quite surprised with the reviews due to which I visited this nightmare place. I think they failed to maintain over a period of time.
