Our family was recently invited to dine at @millo.mumbai an all-vegetarian gem nestled in Kamla Mills, Lower Parel.
For a self-proclaimed non-vegetarian like me, accepting an invitation to an exclusively vegetarian restaurant was a bit of a stretch—though not because I dislike vegetarian food, I simply tend to lean towards non-veg when dining out.
However, Millo pleasantly surprised me with Flavors that were both inventive and downright delicious, making the evening an unforgettable experience. The restaurant itself exudes a lively, welcoming vibe. With two floors, it’s designed thoughtfully: a chic bar on the ground floor, and a cozy yet sophisticated dining space above. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm, smiling hostess who guided us to our table, instantly setting the tone for an enjoyable night ahead. The attentive and courteous staff ensured that we felt right at home, striking the perfect balance between professional and personable service.
To start, we ordered a couple of cocktails, and I was especially taken with the Xalapa. This cocktail was a flavor explosion with tequila, mezcal, charred bell peppers, jalapenos, and a hint of bird-eye chili for that spicy kick. The vegetal, fruity, and smoky blend transported me right to the heart of Mexico, adding a layer of celebration to our night.
My wife opted for the Japanese Matsuri, a visually stunning cocktail with blue pea tea-infused gin, orange liqueur, and a touch of jujube. Sweet, sour, and refreshing, it carried the essence of Japan’s festival spirit—a perfect way to begin our culinary journey.
As for the appetizers, Millo did not disappoint. We started with the Parmesan Churros—a delightful twist on the classic churro, but with a cheesy kick and paired with a creamy chimichurri that was an absolute hit.
The Ultimate Nachos, with layers of black beans, salsa, and cheddar, turned out to be a crowd-pleaser, especially for the kids, who loved the “pull-me-up” presentation that added an element of fun to the dish.
The Millo Italian Salad was a refreshing mix of crisp arugula, cucumber, olives, and tomatoes, all tossed in a zesty Italian vinaigrette that brought out each ingredient’s freshness.
Then came the Super Thin Crust Margherita Pizza—made with authentic Italian San Marzano tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. Simple, classic, and executed perfectly, this pizza was a testament to Millo’s focus on quality ingredients.
The Tempura Sushi was a unique addition to the meal, with crunchy veggies wrapped in sushi rice. Though I felt the sushi could use a touch more refinement, the flavours were pleasant and enjoyable.
For the main course, we shared the Naples Penoni—a delightful dish of stuffed penne, tossed alio olio-style on a bed of rich San Marzano tomato sauce. The flavours were beautifully balanced, and the pasta was cooked to perfection, leaving us completely satisfied.
To end our meal, we indulged in Chocolate Fudge—a decadent 55% dark chocolate fudge topped with caramelized nuts. This dessert was the perfect ending to a memorable meal, balancing rich flavours with just the right amount of sweetness.
Verdict: Millo is a haven for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, with a vibrant atmosphere, attentive service, and dishes crafted with creativity and precision. Thank you, Millo, for a wonderful dining experience that made this non-veg lover leave with a newfound appreciation for...
Read moreWe went for a friend's anniversary. The waiting was not much as for a Sunday, which was good. We had called earlier to reserve a table but in weekends they don't accept reservations between 7-9 . Ambience- nice cosy ambience, low lighting, mid oak/ sherry wood tables, yellow fabric as well as cane lined wooden chairs, light green soothing walls. However, the tables are too closely arranged. It hinders the privacy for the patrons and can make people uncomfortable.
Music- nice, high beats , edm music without lyrics. Not a very very high volume so you can talk at the tables.
Food- We ordered filo cups, their speciality pizza, tsunami rice and their signature pasta
Filo cups - similar to canopies, with guacamole and Mexican beans as filling, 5 in no, were just okay and definitely not worth the price (450+ SC + Tax). Please skip this. Millo's pizza was just better than average. Thin crust, crispy, with limited toppings Tsunami rice was a pull up rice with mexican fried rice and a Mexican beans based gravy. It was good and different than many other places we'd dined. Would recommend it Pasta- pink sauce, penne, this was the show stopper after bits and pieces of excitement and disappointments. The sauce was amazing, tangy, creamy and had a lovely after taste. All of us loved it.
Service- The food was received fairly quick. But the service was not good. You'd have to ask for water multiple times to get it served. The food once received on the table won't be served fast to individual dishes. In fast, you'd have to ask them repeatedly to serve it to the plates. Plus they don't change plates after every course and you'd have to ask them repeatedly for that too. All in all, makes the experience sour.
Suggestions - Keep the tables a lit apart giving a little breather of space to patrons. Keep bottles of water at the tables so as not inconvenience the patrons to ask the servers repeatedly The servers should be trained better. They are not good either in explaining the menu or in service serving the dishes. Pretty amateur for a place which seems so nice otherwise. Stop putting service charges and a tax to it upfront. This is akin to looting when you have such bad services and most of the people are good enough to not argue about it but it is totally not worth the service at this point. The menu is quite exhaustive. Kindly maybe put a list of specials so as to make the...

Mocktails : Must try a refreshing mocktail and cocktails 🍹 from the menu however the one we tried was not that impressive but I'll recommend few. It will be a perfect start to any meal :
Millo's Mojito - It's nothing just a lime 🍋 soda 🥤 and had kafir, and blue pea.
Popsicle in my glass - A seperate popsicle 🍭 will be served to you along with the mocktail you can dip it and enjoy both at the same time. It is available in 2 flavour berry 🫐 and orange 🍊
Rosling - It will give a taste of rose 🌹 with refreshing taste of lime 🍋 mixed with soda 🥤.
Boba special Nutella - This is recommended, I really enjoyed drinking this. Not too thick not too thin and not too sweet, not too chocolaty. Each sip was enjoyable. Must try.
Food :
Burrito Mojados - It's a Mexican dish contain a mixture of lot of ingredients. The portion is enough for 2-3 people. It's usually heavy as it contain cheese 🧀, flour 🌾 in the base.
Chilaquiles Filo Cup - Chilaquiles Cups are a fun bite-sized twist filled with some toppings which can vary from restaurant to restaurant but usually the filling will contain a mixture of some sauce and veggies.
Cottage cheese 🧀 chilly 🌶️- It's nothing just a paneer chilly with mixture of some green and yellow capsicum 🫑.
Tabasco Pizza - The pizza 🍕 was thin crust base base with a perfect amount of cheese and Tabasco spicy 🔥 sauce and topping will be of some Red Chilli and basil leafs 🌿 the taste was really good and a must try. It was the out of menu option.
Greek gyros - So, it's kind of a roll or shwarma with the filling of paneer cubes and served with Chipotle sauce.
The place is a must go only the thing that you can consider is a price, it's a bit pricey 💰 and after 2-3PM they might not offer Indian/ Tandoor dishes as they close it till the evening. Other than that it's a place to go considering ambience or any...
