Appallingly poor service but good food. Do not recommend this place for anyone who appreciates a holistic dining experience.
While the Bandra outlet lacks the ambience (too crowded, chaotic, excessively noisy), their food is good and service is great.
The Andheri W. location simply lacks managerial oversight, staff trained in basic hospitality, and customer-centiricity. Where do I even begin? Instead of 3 strikes, this places struck out 6 times.
I had lunch there today (we sat outdoor) and we ordered the Jhol Momo, some type of soupy noodle, an open crispy mushroom bao, thai basil lemonade, glass of cold water.
The issues: No water or tissues at the table Drinks were forgotten for 30 mins - then we were told there was no thai lemonade or cold water, so we would have to make do with cucumber lemonade and room temp water Jhol momo and soupy noodles were brought 15-20 mins apart Bao were forgotten for 45 mins We had to follow-up on our order even though most diners were on their way out When we asked for the manager on 2 occasions, we were informed she wasn't around even though it was lunch service, and that we should tell the server so she could relay it to her After insisting, the manager magically appeared and came to talk to us sheepishly and proceeded to give us excuses about how they were short-staffed
My point is - if you're a location that is always packed and has waiting for both services (lunch and dinner), you should either have all operational factors under control OR at least inform diners that you're running a bit slow for whatever reason. Be clear, honest, and communicate with your paying customers. It's about respect. You're not doing us any favour, we are patrons of your business.
There are plenty of restaurants that have great service - banana leaf, cafe indigo, ray's, to name a few in the same budget range - why not take a cue from them and learn how to retain customers rather than give excuses for carelessness and apathy in service.
I suggest the upper management invest more time, money and energy in training their managers and customer facing staff on how to ensure diners feel...
Read moreMountain Goat, a Tibetan restaurant nestled in the heart of Lokhandwala, Andheri West, is a hidden gem that offers a unique culinary experience. With its cozy ambiance, warm lighting, and authentic Himalayan décor, the place transports you straight to the mountains.
The restaurant exudes a rustic charm with wooden interiors and subtle Tibetan influences. The service was prompt, and the staff was well-informed about the menu, ensuring a seamless dining experience.
The menu at Mountain Goat is a delightful mix of Tibetan and Himalayan specialties, and we tried some of their standout dishes.
Pork Sadeko Momo These were nothing short of flavor bombs! The momos were pan-seared to perfection, with a well-seasoned pork filling inside. The Sadeko-style preparation—infused with mustard oil, chilies, and herbs—gave them an extra punch of flavor.
Lemon Grass Basil Lemonade & Beetroot Lemonade Both mocktails were refreshing and unique. The Lemongrass Basil Lemonade had a fragrant, citrusy zing, while the Beetroot Lemonade was an earthy yet revitalizing drink with a beautiful deep-red hue.
Chicken Thenthuk A comforting Tibetan hand-pulled noodle soup, the Chicken Thenthuk was a complete meal in itself. The broth was hearty, packed with the goodness of slow-cooked chicken, fresh vegetables, and thick, chewy noodles. It was warm, nourishing, and deeply satisfying.
Pahadi Bowl (Pahadi Ramen) This dish was a spicy delight, perfect for those who love bold flavors. The glassy noodles added a unique texture, soaking up the rich, fiery broth beautifully. The spice level was on the higher side, making it a great pick for spice lovers!
Sangkaya A perfect way to end the meal, Sangkaya resembled the traditional Maharashtrian dessert Kharwas but with a delightful twist. Made with coconut milk, it had a rich, silky texture and a mild sweetness, making it an absolute treat for dessert lovers.
Mountain Goat is a must-visit for Tibetan cuisine enthusiasts and foodies looking to explore something beyond the usual. The well-balanced flavors, warm hospitality, and unique offerings make it a standout destination in Mumbai’s food scene. Highly...
Read moreYesterday, after my conversation with the main phone number, I happened to visit Mountain Goat Andheri. First of all, the number available for the Andheri branch wasn’t responding, even around a quarter to 12, even though the restaurant opens at 12. No, revert to that. Only a text asking what’s up. They did not highlight that it’s going full house, and I couldn’t secure traditional seating, which defied the purpose of my visit. And to add cherry on this cake of unfortunate, they initially served me non-vegetarian jhol momos instead of veg. What’s the point of a live kitchen and a manager when such things happen? It turned out he served at the wrong table. But when he bought the correct order, I asked him twice because even my soul was scared. Never coming again. And utterly disappointed due to impotent people associated with this chain who cannot cater to paying people. I don’t deserve this callousness. Attaching the pics of Veg Jhol Momos and they tasted fine and the drink too but there was this dissatisfaction within. This place is definitely blacklisted by me. They should train the staff better or good luck to them facing turmoil.
Edit (Response to the owner): I’m in no mood to revisit Mountain Goat anytime soon. You have spoilt the first impression itself. I’ll think about it if you improve. By the way, I had even emailed you and tried reaching out to you on your phone number. All they did was take some dining information from me. No call from your team. Maybe this is a public-platform damage control stunt.
Edit 2: I just got a notification regarding the elongated response, which looks different as compared to the previous one. I have clearly mentioned above that the picture of veg jhol momos, and they served me non-veg initially. Although I did not consume it, as they mentioned non-vegetarian while presenting it to me, Is my English that incomprehensible? Why don’t you guys check CCTV cameras and look for yourself? Doing damage control on a public platform when you should be transparent in the first place. And it’s table for four and not six. Thank you for your wishes, and I wish you likewise for Team...
