Hilsa Hilsa Hilsa 😋😋👌👌 Bengalis most favorite Monsoon delight Any preparation with Hilsa fish.. Am privileged to cebratrate Hilsa Festival in Oh! Calcutta, Tardeo The Hilsa Festival will go on till 1st of September Don't miss this chance... Indulge yourself in totally Bengali delicacies.. This restaurant has received Times Good Food Awards 16 times.. Hilsa - whatta fish 🐠 👌 Dazzling in silver look No Bong/ foodie can't say No to Ilish. Bongs can't imagine monsoon without Hilsa. Oh! Calcutta deserves all the credit to bring Bengali cuisine and making it popular in Mumbai. When we think about the most popular Bengali cuisine restaurant of this city - Oh! Calcutta comes first in mind The ambiance totally goes with the rich culture and heritage of Bengal... The iconic hand-pulled rickshaw, huge wall painting of Victoria Memorial, instrumental Rabindra Sangeet in the background, pictures of Bengali celebraties like Satyajit Ray and many more, an antique gramophone... The sketches on the plates of iconic structures of Kolkata's - Howrah Bridge, Victoria Memorial & few more. Fish net in one corner to celebrate Hilsa Festival.. Chef Rajesh Mallick created lovely dishes to satisfy the foodies' souls.. The few delicacies I tried of Hilsa festival- 1) Mochar ilish cutlet (boneless)- Absolutely awesome creation of banana flowers with boneless hilsa, mild spices, tawa fried.. 2) Posto narkol ilish (bonless) - A great combination of poppy seeds grated coconut paste cooked with lots of care with boneless Hilsa. 3) Lal Lankar ilish (with bone) - a thick red gravy of tomato chilles (without seeds) paste, covered a fish piece of Hilsa.. 4) Meghna Majhider ilish (Boneless) - the name comes from Meghna river, very popular for good quality of Hilsa fishes, the thick gravy was prepared by grated coconut and curry paste. The birthday celebration started with special curated menu by Chef- Signature Mocktails - 1) Gondhoraj lebur sorbot - (aromatic special kind of green thick-skinned) lemons were infused in water & sugar syrup, they are getting these lemons from Kolkata on daily basis. 2) Aam pora sorbot - Roasted green mango pulp is used to make this refreshing mocktail.. Veg signature starters - 1) Chana korai sutir chop - patty made of cottage cheese and smashed green peas 2) Mochar chop - a delicacy, banana flower patty with mild spices 3) Gondhoraj Paneer tikka - Soft paneer tikka infused with special aromatic lemon juice Non-veg starters - 4) Mochar Ilish - boneless Hilsa and banana flower cutlets 5) Gondhoraj Bhapa Murgi Kebab - an amazing creation of aromatic lemon juice, minched chicken steamed dumplings, wrapped in banana leaves 6) Murshidabadi Murgi Fry - boneless roasted chicken with mild spices 7) Fish Fry - Big size Bhetki pieces were marinated & deep fried with crispy coating.. Veg Maincourse - 1) Jhinge Aloo Posto - ridged gourd and potatoes were cooked in poppy seeds paste 2) Cholar Daal - traditional preparation of Bengal gram lentil. 3) Aloor Dom - a very popular Bengali dish of baby potatoes curry 4) Til Lonkaar Tarkari - a mixed vegetables curry cooked in sesame seeds green chilies & coriander leaves paste Non-veg Maincourse - 5) Bhapa Ilish 6) Kosha Mangsho 7) Chingri Malai curry 8) Fish Tomatoor Jhal served with Luchi & steamed rice Tomato dates sweet chutney Chaler Payesh - a yummy kheer, sweet Paan, sparkling wine, made the birthday celebration totally memorable

Unchi Dukan Feeki Pakwan. You must have heard of this proverb. We experienced it at Oh! Calcutta. We ordered Pressure Cooker Mutton, chicken biryani and Luchi and two mocktails, Watermelon+Basil and Aam Pora Shorbat. In total we paid +2700₹. Overall the taste of the food was good, but quality and quantity must have been better. We have eaten at Leopold cafe, Mirchi and Mime, Ranjit da Dhaba and so on. Mentioning this so that you know we have already considered the level of the restaurant and speaking only after analysing that. So here is my story. After finishing our meal, we were given a feedback form in which I gave mixed reviews according to the food and services provided. In specific, I mentioned that the quantity of the food should be increased according to the price. But this was never a problem untill the manager came to us cross questioning why we gave an average feedback. And on top of that he started to argue and tried to make us seem small that we only ordered items for ₹2700+ (Seems as if he was not ready for any suggestions at all and wanted us to order food for ₹5000 or more). When we gave this feedback, he said that this is normal. I don't have a problem whether this is normal or not or whether you choose to give that much quantity in this price. But the main problem was they are just arrogant and ignorant to guests satisfaction. They think that they deserve 5star irrespective of their service or food and only a fool would give them a lower rating. Lastly they took additional Service Charge which is not legal to take on the bill and is completely optional however they are taking it from everyone. Bill is attached for the reference. So, for us, it was the first and last time there. Wish you all a better experience than mine.

In the jam packed lane of Tulsiwadi lies a gem of a restaurant - especially if you are Bengali who relishes his food! For me - being a true Mumbaikar, I was a bit skeptical to try out the freshwater fishes and mustard oil preparation of Bengali cuisine. But so impressed I was, after having a feast at Oh! Calcutta. To begin with, they have a well kept and professional Valet Parking - which is such a necessity - in the cramped Tardeo area. Once you enter the restaurant - the seating and interiors of the restaurant are a mix of traditional and modern, to make you feel at comfort. For menu card - they provide you a Tablet phone, where you can view how the dish looks like, before you order. Well, we feasted on a variety of dishes - each better than the other and it's difficult to call out a favourite. Nizami Murgh Malai Tikka - Delicious chicken malai tikka Gondhoraj Mach - Steamed fish in leaves Topsher Cutlet - Mango fish cutlet Kosha Mangsho - Sukka Mutton Daab Chingri - Prawns cooked in coconut milk and served artistically in a coconut Rui Kalia - Rui fish in traditional bay leaf and garam masala curry Hot puffy Luchi - Piping hot and puffy puri Calcutta Chicken Biryani Mishti Doi - famous bengali sweet and creamy yoghurt Rosogulla - needs no description Gur Sondesh So all you Mumbaikars, if you want a taste of Bengal, you don't need to travel all the way to Kolkata. You have right here in Mumbai - Oh Calcutta!
