When I entered Pop Tate’s in Growell’s, I was fully immersed in the ambience of the restaurant. The smell of beer and alcohol lingered in the air and the place was dimly lit and it added to the ambience. I feel that the restaurant is great for dining out in groups with friends and family. My family and I went to the restaurant for lunch on a Tuesday, so there was a lot of space available for us to sit. We grabbed a table for four and waited for the menu to be brought to us. To my disappointment, we were not given the menu nor were we served water even after we had sat there for several minutes. Normally I would have understood if we had visited the restaurant during rush hour, but as mentioned before it was the middle of the day on a Tuesday and so I feel that this is worth mentioning. Eventually, we had to pick up a menu we found lying on a counter next to us and proceeded to order the food. The waiter was extremely cooperative with custom requests like converting a cocktail into a mocktail and we instructed them to bring out whatever was ready as soon as they could. The preparation was indeed speedy and we had our food come to us one after the other. We ordered a Thai green curry, some fries, a classic chicken risotto, a pineapple cocktail turned into a mocktail, 2 fresh lime sodas (mixed) and a meat load pizza. We also took a jar of tiramisu to-go. I personally did not have the Thai green curry or the sweet lime soda, so I will not comment on that. But here are my reviews of the other dishes: • Fries – The serving size made it clear that it was intended to either be a side or a starter. They tasted well and were neither too salty nor too bland. • Risotto – The risotto was creamy and tasted amazing. It was a very heavy meal though, so be aware that you will feel stuffed. • Pineapple Mocktail – The mocktail felt like it was just pineapple juice and it didn’t taste like it had anything else in it. It lacked that pleasant surprise at the beginning or at the end that would give it some depth. • Meat load pizza – The meat load pizza was very good and is honestly a classic. There was a generous amount of cheese on it so that when you bit into it, it stretched when you pulled back your mouth. The meat in it was nicely cooked and the pizza overall was very juicy and tasty. • Tiramisu – The tiramisu was extremely good, and as a fan of coffee, I can say that the taste of coffee was brilliantly brought out. The cream was light and tasty but I personally would have liked to see them add more cake to it as I felt it was mostly just cream. But apart from that it tasted amazing and is a wonderful dessert. In all the food was very good and the ambience was also nice, but what held back our experience was the service and I feel like the staff of Pop Tate’s can definitely do better in that department. Cleanliness was also not an issue and the restaurant was...
Read moreVisited Poptates a fortnight ago for our Friday hangout.
Amazing ambiance and nice music (Volume should be a little louder). Comfortable sitting arrangement. Have been here couple of times before and also at one of there Malad west outlet. My friend wanted to have sizzler and since Yoko is closed down, He suggested poptates since he had earlier tried sizzler here.
Started with our drinks order in which they messed up and brought double of what we ordered, But didn't matter as we decided to gulp it all :). Wanted to try one of the cocktails later, But couldn't because of this.
In food we started with my all time favorites "Cheese Garlic Bread" and "Classic Masala Peanuts". Garlic bread were very well made and layer of cheese was awesome. Peanuts were as per it's name "Classic". It was mixed well with onions, tomato, coriander. It was awesome the perfect companion for the drinks :).
Next up were "Jalapeno Cheese Poppers". This is also getting close to being my favorite for munching. Have it at couple of pizza burger places earlier. Loved the taste of it here too. It is served in a old style trunk(small one), Which reminded me of my childhood when my dad used to have one to maintain papers at home.
After that we moved on to "Spicy Corn Tikkis", Which was also great for me as i love corn. And as per it's name it was spiced up perfectly.
Also had "Sriracha House Potatoes" which was a bit spicy for me. But my friends loved it.
Meanwhile our non-vegetarian friend was completing his "Chicken shashlik" sizzler for which he came with us. We ordered Cross country pizza. Pizza was good not as great as the starters but close enough. Crust was thinner than regular ones. Toppings were perfect. Didn't like as much as the earlier item's i had.
Overall enjoyed the evening. I hope the music gets louder so that other people's bickering don't have any effect on my ear. Enjoyed all the starters & bi-tings i tried.
Re-commanded one's :- Cheese Garlic Bread, Classic Masala Peanuts, Jalapeno Cheese Poppers &...
Read moreFirstly, I am usually a fan of Pop Tates in most places. But this place has completely ruined the streak. We went on a Saturday evening, and the rush was expected, so we made a reservation via Eazydiner and waited for our no. To our surprise, a family of 2 who were below us in the list were given seats before us. When confronted, the attendant shows us a random name and said that this was them. Did not want to spoil the already soiled atmosphere and asked her not to call them so i could confirm if it was true. I believe this way of servicing customers is unethical
Once we got our seats, we ordered our regular gin and tonic, mocktail, and some French fries, which were very salty. We were not served water, which is basic even after waiting outside for above 40 minutes on the table as well.
Starter - Pepper Blasted chicken, was spicy and tasted decent did enjoy. Bbq wings was nice as well. Main course - Oriental chicken sizzlers, the dish was not served on the plate, and the sauce was super spicy and burned our taste buds. I'm pretty sure I was unable to taste food till the next day.
Service was very poor. No one was waiting on the table and had to keep calling person again and again in vain. To the extent that one waiter had and tray with pasty and when reached us was asked by the manager to move to another table so not to serve us. Approx by 11.15, the fans were switched off with the intention of rushing the customers. Luckily, we were finished by then. Worst service and non ethical...
