Had visited TAP Restro Bar for my friend's birthday. The ambience is great, not so much rush on a Sunday.
The music was great before the DJ took over. Wonder what he was high on. Music aside, the service is prompt yet designed to trick you.
They will subtlety push you to get expensive options without reading the menu. We ordered drinks, the waiter asked if we want peanuts with the drinks for everyone, which in most restaurants is something you expect. The most expensive sides is, Masala Peanuts which was served to us. (We only found out about what happened at the billing)
The starters were served, everything was satisfactory. The dishes were arriving suspiciously early. The mushrooms tasted funny. Overall satisfactory starters.
We shifted tables and the dance floor side was too underwhelming. We ordered main course. Yes this is where it started going downhill.
We ordered pasta which was good. The Chinese noodles and paneer was succulent and tasty. Then arrived the pizza, it was a mash-up of Veeba Sauces, the server was unable to explain what toppings the confusing Pizza name had. So we were innocently charged extra for addon toppings.
Then came the highlight of the evening, Burnt Garlic Rice. We wanted to order Pot Rice but the server suggested to get Burnt Garlic Rice, so we trusted his opinion and ordered it. He sent across Fried rice with The sauce vegetables of choice. It was immediately served, After serving we realised that the burnt garlic itself is absent. When notified, the server and his colleague searched the bowl for a fogment of garlic and showed us, see there is garlic.
After explaining them the difference between garlic in fried rice and a dish called burnt garlic fried rice, they understood. Moments later a small bowl of burnt garlic was presented to us, take, here is the burnt garlic you requested. This was absolutely shocking.
At this point we were confused, but definitely we were so done with this place. There is a 6% Service Charge on Food, and 6% Service Charge on drinks as well. There is a company policy that prevents the employees to be forced not to wave it off, mind you, you have to inform the server BEFORE PRINTING the invoice about removal of the Service Charge. Or the manager will plead to you dreadfully and persuade you to work around something and pay up. No Zomato Swiggy Discounts work in this venue. They will invoice you and then say the slip is now printed, it cannot be taken back to wave off the 6% service charge like it's etched in stone. they have '6% Service Charge' disclaimers EVERYWHERE! That's your cue to get out of there.
Manager will plead he will give discounts next time you come, but none of us six are ever returning here. Don't think the same guy would be there even if we do to provide any form of discounts.
We were billed ₹9500 including everything for 6 people. With Ok Ok food, improper billing and mismanagement. It was a really Pathetic Experience. Not...
Read moreAndheri link Road is filled with good n happening places n it gets tough for some, specially budget restraining people, to decide which place to go specially on weekends n enjoy .. Well if u ask me for a place which serves good food n drinks with cool offers currently then this place is a must try for u guys especially if u looking out to enjoy n not causing a big damage to ur pocket as well.. We had done reservations on phone for Sat night as we were stags but we were asked to pay 1000rs per head cover charges at counter which was not mentioned while doing booking .. We anyway happily gave that but I hope they make sure things are cleared to people when they do reservations.. We got ourselves comfortable in open area which was not at all happening for Saturday night than ac section where only couples are allowed .. Seatings are decent comfortable in both the sections.. Outer section is huge n perfect for drink meet or place where you can hold a drink n have some actual conversation.. Outer section has good huge big screen to watch live sports n with ipl on n world Cup coming one can surely consider this place specially if 5+5 offer (on selective drinks all day) is on... Food n drink menu is extensive n had many varieties for one to choose from.. We started here with malabari Paratha quesadillas n this fusion food was simply delectable.. Quesadillas made up of malabari parathas having roast vegetable kurma as stuffing was served with finger licking good bell pepper ketchup.. This innovative dish was so delicious n one will like to have more of it as quantity was not that great but taste wise it was top one... We then had veg manchurian dry n pre hand told them to make it crispy n they did made them exactly the way I wanted.. This one was perfectly spicy, sweet n tangy n tasted very authentic in taste.. In mains had veg biryani n it was decent.. This rice dish was made of good quality basmati rice n mixed well with spices, herbs n vegetables but I felt it to be less spicy than normally biryani are supposed to be.. Anyway it was good food experience overall.. Service was good n efficient but a little slow n getting servers attention was tough.. Surely they can coordinate well n improve on it.. Rates wise it overall reasonable for pub.. They have different rates for food n drinks for weekdays n weekends so surely visiting this place on weekdays will b not at all hard on ur pocket.. Overall its a nice place n one can surely give it a try
My recommendations - malabari Paratha quesadillas, veg manchurian dry
PS - Stags allowed on weekends with 1000 Rs per head cover charges n stags are only allowed in open area outside.. They do also take cover charges for couples also if u want to go...
Read moreAfter a bad experience in the vicinity, we had rushed here. At first, I had been surprised that they didn't have any app/bank offers running when most/all do these days. But as I soon realized, it was with good reason.
Ambiance - 4/5
It is located smack on the Linking Road and one would think that that's not a great idea with all the traffic et al. But they've smartly put plants and it all gives a nice romantic feel to the proceedings. The first place seats by the window are the best in the house. They could work a bit on say putting a cooler or some such in the heat, but it was still fine overall. We never thought of venturing inside when such a nice outside seating was on offer. A pretty big place and they even have a pool table downstairs. Not surprisingly, an eclectic crowd mix and super nice vibes all around.
Food/Drink - 4/5
So coming to the earlier mentioned surprise. They have some cool offers of their own and the pricing isn't crazy to begin with. The menu has different pricing for different days of the weeks which is pretty smart in my opinion and transparent.
The drinks menu is huge - literally everything's available and they were pretty eager to do all sorts of customization too; always a great sign! We tried Litchi Margarita, BullFrog, Wine and more. All pretty well done.
Food menu is quite exhaustive too and we were happy with the paneer schewzan starter and the pizza. The pizza is not really other worldly good but does the trick and despite the small size, was surprisingly tasty.
Service - 5/5
Servers were available all over, running around, doing your bidding. They may not be the most polished, but they were eager to serve and had the right attitude. The house manager courteously made rounds to check on everyone.
An evening nicely spent with...
