What an experience.
Was quite interested in the fact that this restaurant has been spoken of on social media a couple of times, so I thought - Why Not? So arrived there with much enthusiasm, and seated myself upstairs at the corner. Liked the ambience out there.
First placed an order for poutine, which was described so well on the menu. The moment it came, I was super excited, because this Indian variant of poutine didn't look like poutine, and well, unfortunately, it didn't taste like poutine either. Well, not even in the vicinity of poutine. It was more like French fries loaded with umm some weird Indian tomato salsa with something which was unlike cheese curds. Anyhow. The fries were crisp, but lacked the kick. So did the trial of poutine overall.
Nonetheless I tried something that cannot go wrong by anyone - Spaghetti Aglio E Oglio, referred here as Aglio Olio. Also ordered the thin crust Farm Yard Pizza. By the way, they have Make Your Own Pizza too, but no Jalapeno. And I couldn't exchange the Olives on the Farm Yard Pizza with Jalapeno too. Because (after 15 mins) it is chargeable, and how much extra we have to pay?(query was never answered). The Spaghetti came in earlier, so dwelled into that first. Well, the most simplest of dishes couldn't be ruined. Well, I was wrong. I couldn't taste the basic essence of Garlic! It was more of cheese than anything else. Unfortunately, couldn't do much, and I wanted to cancel the order for the Farm Yard, which came in 40 mins from time of ordering. Well, it came in and must I say.
Dejection was not just about one thing, but a culmination of it all. The crust was overdone, ingredients lacked flavour, and addition of oregano, chili flakes or sauce couldn't help save the pizza. Finally, the bill came in and service tax was charged extra, over and above the GST, while nothing of that sort was mentioned either in the bill or beforehand.
I called in the waiter, apparently a senior at the restaurant - and asked why is this added, to which he replies (comes in closer to the table so others cannot hear our conversation) - "You can deduct that amount and pay Sir. No problem." I asked - then why add? He just smiles and says, no problem sir, don't add that amount and pay the rest. He makes remarks in the bill too. Made the payments and walked down, to which the same guy comes back, and says this in a very loud and sarcastic tone - "Thank You So Very Much Sir."
When the payments were being made, that time he could have said it, well I realized that taste, customer service and honesty hits a real low here.
It was a mere INR 28, but why should I, or anyone pay extra? For people who don't see the bill, it's extra to pocket. Well, had it been informed earlier, I would have made an exception for this.
And for such kind of service, well, hats off to those who listed this place on Social Media. And a rating of 3.9,...
Read moreAfter an elaborate work meeting , I and a colleague rushed to the Lab after seeing favourable zomato ratings. We were not really blown away by the food like we thought we would but the food is definitely appreciation worthy.
Here is a list of the dishes and beverages we ordered. We have arranged them as per our TASTEMETRE (BEST ONES FIRST) :
Brownie Shake 175 INR : Though the quantity of this shake was slightly disappointed the taste was outstanding. Apple and pamogranate cooler 175 INR : great in taste. Only as fizzy as required, not very sweet, great taste! Paneer Tikka Masala - 250 INR : Great taste but disappointing quantity. Jalepeno Poppers - 250 INR : very Unique Jalepeno poppers! Parmesan cheese with little (close to none) taste of Jalepeno but the unique thing here was the taste of the crust/top coating of the poppers! It was rolled in head papad before deep frying and that tasted quite good. Poutine fries- 225 INR : Definitely not worth the money but if looked in isolation, a good dish to order. Mexican Rice with Satay 325 INR : Was partially uncooked and that disappointed us quite a lot. That is what makes this dish the last one on the list.
Overall : Good place but quantity is disappointing!
Will we revisit? : Yes, for the baithak seating and the...
Read moreWent here yesterday for lunch. This is the second outlet I visited of The Lab. They have a good 'laboratory' kinda themed ambience. It's a cute lil place to chill with your friends. What I ordered :
BEVERAGES
• Nutella Milkshake (3/5): Classic Nutella Milkshake! This was one a very sweeter side but good. It was served in a beaker.
• Mocha Frappe (3/5): This one was cold coffee. It was served in a beaker as well. Could've been better.
APPETIZERS
• Jalapeno Poppers (3/5): These were cottage cheese & jalapeno balls. Tasted well with the Mayo dip.
• Poutine Fries (4/5): Fries topped with spicy red sauce. I can never say no to fries, and these were just so perfect!
MAINS
• Paneer Lababdar with Paratha (3/5): It was nice, rich & spicy gravy with chunks of paneer it. The parathas were really really soft.
• Pot Rice (3/5): Rice topped with some really good gravy. It had some exotic veggies like broccoli, zucchini, capsicum, etc. Was very filling!
A very good place, for light snacks I'd say. Their food is very...
