I must admit, I was thoroughly excited to witness a fine dining experience in a colonial bungalow but everything went in vain as nothing was up to the mark. I was very impressed with the way this century old bungalow looked from the outside, basically anyone who’s a fan of British Architecture would get attracted to the facade of the bungalow but the moment you enter inside, you’ll witness a very over decorated interior & a not so well maintained infrastructure. Looking at the the walls you will feel that it will fall apart anytime. The look that they wanted to give which was a retro kind of a theme has been totally overdone. I have stayed inside many British Bungalows till date but mind my words, this is not the way a colonial bungalow should look like from inside. Now the most important part - The Food. When a place charges exorbitant prices equivalent to a 3 or 5 star restaurant, they should maintain some high standards as far as the quality of the food served is concerned but to my utter surprise, the food did not justify the exorbitant price I paid. I ordered 1x Kurkura Veg Kabab & 1x Virgin Mojito. The kabab felt like it had been prepared a day before & served by just microwaving it. The kabab was falling apart into small pieces which happens when its not freshly prepared & shows that it was refrigerated. The taste was bland & was one of the worsts I had eaten in a long time. The Mojito, though tasted better was served in a whiskey glass, Yes! You read it right. So both these at ₹800 is a sheer waste of money. I wouldn’t mind spending that money at a 5 star Restaurant for the same amount of food but at East India Company, I regret it so much! The staff isn’t welcoming either & simple things like serving the dishes are not undertaken. It seems they are always in a hurry to clear the table the moment one finishes eating that too in an empty restaurant. The Cherry on the top moment is that the waiter asks for some tips that I can add in the bill while paying through my card. It seriously made me laugh. I rarely post negative reviews but I couldn’t hold myself back this time as I felt it was a complete waste of time & money going to The East India Company! Highly not...
Read moreIf you’re a fan of old-world charm and intricate structures, this place is a must-visit. The ambiance is stunning and reminiscent of Café Des Arts in Pondicherry, making it a treat for the senses. While it’s on the expensive side, it’s worth the hype for the experience it delivers.
The mocktails were a highlight, especially the Watermelon Mojito, which was refreshing and balanced. However, the Kiwi Mocktail was a letdown, tasting more like candy and lacking authenticity.
The food had its ups and downs. The Khatte Tarare Aloo, which sounded like a snackable munchie, turned out to be a dish akin to Jeera Aloo, best paired with roti—a bit of a letdown in terms of expectations. On the brighter side, the Seabass was the star of the evening, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Chicken Biryani was equally impressive, with tender chicken and fragrant, well-cooked rice infused with just the right amount of spices. Do try the spinach dumplings which were amazingly sone! As for the Lemon Cottage Cheese, while the cottage cheese itself was fresh and soft, the overall flavor profile of the dish failed to impress.
In conclusion, the experience was delightful overall. Come for the ambiance, stay for the food, and don’t miss out on the Seabass and Chicken Biryani if you visit. This place truly elevates...
Read moreI was on a business trip to nagpur and I had some free time in the evening, so after some research I decided to go to East india company. I had my fingers crossed as I didn't have a very good experience about food in most of my outstation trips. As soon as I entered in the restaurant I felt like as I was lost as there was nobody there on the front desk so I decided to welcome myself to a table. Order: I ordered for a grilled fish in brown sauce it was really well cooked fish in a yummy sauce , I could have had two of those dishes but then I decided to order another dish. Order no 2: Burmese khow suey this looked nice but more than looking nice this one tasted amazing. And once the waiter serves you the khao suey they ask you if you would like it to be served in a bowl and then they serve you and mix it well and oh boy that tasted so heavenly. Music: They were playing 80s and 90s English songs , they played right from "Sultan's of swings " to "Cecelia" to "Gangster's Paradise". Ambiance: this place has this rustic ambiance , you feel like you are in Some kind of magical world.
Food 5/5 Music 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Service 5/5
