A Tranquil Culinary Voyage at Shikara - A Boat-themed Delight in Sanpada

Introduction: Nestled in the heart of Sanpada, Shikara, a boat-themed restaurant, offers a unique dining experience that transcends the ordinary. Boasting a serene ambiance reminiscent of a tranquil boat ride, Shikara combines aesthetic charm with delectable cuisine to create an unforgettable culinary journey. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of exploring their menu, indulging in a variety of dishes, including Paneer Chilly, Veg Platter, Atrangi Koftas, and sumptuous desserts like Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream and Gulab Jamun with Rabdi.

Ambiance: Upon entering Shikara, the enchanting boat-themed decor immediately captures your attention. The restaurant is adorned with tasteful nautical elements, evoking a sense of calmness and relaxation. The dim lighting adds a touch of intimacy, making it an ideal setting for a cozy dinner or a celebratory meal. The choice of soft instrumental music further enhances the overall dining experience, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and inviting.

Service: One of the standout features of Shikara is its exceptional staff. From the moment I stepped in, the warmth and professionalism of the team were evident. The servers were attentive, well-versed with the menu, and eager to offer recommendations. Their genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine and commitment to customer satisfaction elevated the overall dining experience.

Appetizers: The culinary journey began with Paneer Chilly, a delightful fusion of succulent paneer cubes tossed in a flavorful blend of spices and vegetables. The dish struck a perfect balance between spicy and savory, showcasing the chef's expertise in crafting contemporary Indian starters. The Veg Platter was a feast for the senses, featuring an assortment of tikkas and kebabs that were not only visually appealing but also rich in taste and texture. Each bite was a celebration of flavors, from the smoky notes of the grill to the vibrant spices.

Main Course: The Atrangi Koftas, a signature dish at Shikara, lived up to its name with a medley of colorful and delectable koftas served in a velvety curry. The koftas, made from a blend of vegetables and exotic spices, melted in the mouth, imparting a burst of flavors. Accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and freshly baked naan, the main course was a symphony of tastes that left a lasting impression.

Desserts: To conclude the meal, I opted for the Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream and Gulab Jamun with Rabdi. Both desserts showcased the chef's mastery in traditional Indian sweets. The Gulab Jamun, with its perfect texture and subtle sweetness, paired harmoniously with the velvety ice cream and rich rabdi, offering a delightful contrast of temperatures and tastes.

Conclusion: Shikara, with its enchanting ambiance, attentive staff, and delectable cuisine, stands out as a gem in Sanpada's culinary landscape. The boat-themed restaurant not only provides a memorable dining experience but also serves as a testament to the artistry and passion of its culinary team. Whether you are a connoisseur of Indian cuisine or someone seeking a unique and immersive dining experience, Shikara is undoubtedly a destination...

The Kashmiri Food which I had over here was not just food it was an experience.

I visited this place especially for the Kashmiri food festival which was held between 19th - 21st of January. Talking about this place is like you just cannot define this place in words. You need to experience this place by yourself.

Ambiance:

The place is huge and accommodate a large number of crowd, so your wait will not be long that makes you _ _ _ _ _

About the ambiance it was just amazing with variety of sitting option open to sky or on the boat with closed ac cabin and open cabin constructed on shikara boat just like the dal lake in Srinagar, adding to it there is also an option of sitting in western style restaurant with heritage dining table and chair located on the first floor. to enhance the fun of food they have arrangement of live Music going on and special live musical performance after an specified interval add on to this there were live dance Sessions in the Kashmiri style and live bangle counters as well which were complementary. And few white ducks to make you stare ate them.

Staff

All the staff were kind and helpful in spite of such a huge rush. They welcomed me from the main door to the tables. They were quick response they don’t make you wait long for your food. Food:

welcoming drink served

Kehwa it is a traditional green tea preparation consumed in northern India, basically it is just like a traditional tea which has its own health benefit due to its rich ingredients.

Cocktails:

Following to the tea we ordered some mocktails to get refreshed and get ready for the main coarse Shamiana fruit punch: Among all this was the best with the twist of mixed fruit juice topped with vanilla ice-cream and a twisted tower of cream over it.

Green island – Lemon pineapple and sugar syrup mixed with the crushed ice this was just a bit sweet for the sweet lover out there.

shamiana kiss : The taste was over all good with a tangy twist

Blue kango: This drink are for people who likes to taste something

Main Coarse : Finally we were on the main coarse Kashmiri Thali was on the table .

Veg : As said at the beginning this dishes were not just the food it was an experience with the taste of it’s of tradition

Palak / Haaq Saag

Puwangan Chaman

Rajmah with Shalgum

Nadur Yakhni

Chokh Wangun

Desserts: Authentic sweet dish of Kashmir which were at the best

Giving One Star rating as that is minimum rating...Visited this place with few friends and their families. We had the worst experience ever. The service was pathetic. The attitude od waiters and servers worst ever as if they are doing a big favour by serving us. We reaches the restaurant a bit late around 11.20 pm. At this time we were not provided with any table. There were a few vacant sitting areas so we settled in one of the sitting areas. As soon as we settled down, the server who had earlier confirmed that we can sit there asked us to get up and shift to other place. He said the place was reserved for other guests (a lie which he admitted later). When we resisted as we had kids with us, he said that we can leave the Restaurant and go some place else. This shows the attitude of staff towards guests. Further when we raised our concerns with the than standby Manager Mr. Prashant he said we can sit in the same place as no guests were arriving. Thus proving their own staff had lied about reservations.

We were asked to give final order in one go as the Kitchen was about to close. So we placed the orders for starters as well as Main course together. Starters came after almost half n hour and the servers served in plate without providing any spoons/ forks. When we asked for the same the staff took eternity to provide. Further when we asked for lime pieces with for our Tandoori starters, we were told Kitchen has closed and locked and nothing can be provided. When we protested other waiter provide us with the lime pieces. At this time we were already frustrated with the service. When main course arrived we found that few items of our order were missing. We had ordered two dal and two rice. While dal was provided, no rice was provided. In addition one main course dish was missing. The server started argiving that now the kitchen is closed and we won't give anything to you. When we asked the waiter who had taken our order about the main course dish he said it is being cooked in kitchen. Again shows that the staff was blatantly lying again and again. This further frustrated us and all of us got up and left without eating further with half the food still on our plates.

The attaidude of the staff was we don't care if u come back here or not. Have not seen such a poorly managed Restaurant and arrogant staff all my life.

Would never visit this place again and not...

I had heard alot about this place before visiting. And when I actually visited I really had a blast. It's is very old and very shining place. I loved the ambiance especially, which gives you a great vibe of cozyness. This is one of the best fine dine restaurants I have visited in Mumbai -Navi Mumbai. Very wide number of staff and which is pretty much active. And best is all live singing performance is going on so it makes this place very happening. Okay now talking about what I had. I was with my friends so first we odered some mocktails and cocktails. In mocktails I would recommend go for shikara fruit punch, shikara kiss and blue kango. In cocktails you can definitely go for long island Ice tea which will refresh your mood and u can also go for Black Russian and Bluddy marry. In starters we ordered for saunfiya paneer tikka which is best to try here and kothimbir vadi. In nonveg shamiana mixed grill and chicken pahadi kabab. In main course we ordered for Murg shikara special which was heaven for me. Do order this dish its damn@ tasty. then we ordered Daal tadka which is my favorite. In sweet dish we ordered Firni and rabdi and Malai kulfi. Firni is really great do have it once. This place is so much fun do visit guys. Enjoy old Hindi songs and gazals in the background. And you can also suggest your song or else you can sing too.

If you are looking for a disaster then come here! There is literally no service here. Claustrophobic seating where the staff just wants to cram people. One can't even move around. It was NYE, and ideally premium restaurants with buffet serve starters and rotis on the table, but they straightaway denied. The staff was not cooperative. They have set up their buffet in a disgusting substandard banquet hall where we spotted a lizard. The plates were all yellow and dirty. Food was litreally cold, quality was lacking. Tasteless items, especially thread paneer and spring roll. In maincourse, for vegetarians only Jain options were available. Like what kind of cost-cutting is this? Ideally in a restaurant of this stature, there should be a separate section for Jain, separate for vegetarian and another for non-veg. It is very difficult to again and again go and take starters for drinks in the adjoining hall. Also the desert spread was very limited. Usually there is a variety of pastries, cakes and bakery but they just resorted to ordinary options. They had included mocktails in their package, but what they serve is just two sips, and you have to ask them multiple times to get more. All in all a pathetic experience with zero customer service and zero value for money. I would be more happy if I could get my refund for two pax back.
