A Tranquil Culinary Voyage at Shikara - A Boat-themed Delight in Sanpada
Introduction: Nestled in the heart of Sanpada, Shikara, a boat-themed restaurant, offers a unique dining experience that transcends the ordinary. Boasting a serene ambiance reminiscent of a tranquil boat ride, Shikara combines aesthetic charm with delectable cuisine to create an unforgettable culinary journey. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of exploring their menu, indulging in a variety of dishes, including Paneer Chilly, Veg Platter, Atrangi Koftas, and sumptuous desserts like Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream and Gulab Jamun with Rabdi.
Ambiance: Upon entering Shikara, the enchanting boat-themed decor immediately captures your attention. The restaurant is adorned with tasteful nautical elements, evoking a sense of calmness and relaxation. The dim lighting adds a touch of intimacy, making it an ideal setting for a cozy dinner or a celebratory meal. The choice of soft instrumental music further enhances the overall dining experience, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and inviting.
Service: One of the standout features of Shikara is its exceptional staff. From the moment I stepped in, the warmth and professionalism of the team were evident. The servers were attentive, well-versed with the menu, and eager to offer recommendations. Their genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine and commitment to customer satisfaction elevated the overall dining experience.
Appetizers: The culinary journey began with Paneer Chilly, a delightful fusion of succulent paneer cubes tossed in a flavorful blend of spices and vegetables. The dish struck a perfect balance between spicy and savory, showcasing the chef's expertise in crafting contemporary Indian starters. The Veg Platter was a feast for the senses, featuring an assortment of tikkas and kebabs that were not only visually appealing but also rich in taste and texture. Each bite was a celebration of flavors, from the smoky notes of the grill to the vibrant spices.
Main Course: The Atrangi Koftas, a signature dish at Shikara, lived up to its name with a medley of colorful and delectable koftas served in a velvety curry. The koftas, made from a blend of vegetables and exotic spices, melted in the mouth, imparting a burst of flavors. Accompanied by fragrant basmati rice and freshly baked naan, the main course was a symphony of tastes that left a lasting impression.
Desserts: To conclude the meal, I opted for the Gulab Jamun with Ice Cream and Gulab Jamun with Rabdi. Both desserts showcased the chef's mastery in traditional Indian sweets. The Gulab Jamun, with its perfect texture and subtle sweetness, paired harmoniously with the velvety ice cream and rich rabdi, offering a delightful contrast of temperatures and tastes.
Conclusion: Shikara, with its enchanting ambiance, attentive staff, and delectable cuisine, stands out as a gem in Sanpada's culinary landscape. The boat-themed restaurant not only provides a memorable dining experience but also serves as a testament to the artistry and passion of its culinary team. Whether you are a connoisseur of Indian cuisine or someone seeking a unique and immersive dining experience, Shikara is undoubtedly a destination...

The attitude od waiters and servers worst ever as if they are doing a big favour by serving us. We reaches the restaurant a bit late around 11.20 pm. At this time we were not provided with any table. There were a few vacant sitting areas so we settled in one of the sitting areas. As soon as we settled down, the server who had earlier confirmed that we can sit there asked us to get up and shift to other place. He said the place was reserved for other guests (a lie which he admitted later). When we resisted as we had kids with us, he said that we can leave the Restaurant and go some place else. This shows the attitude of staff towards guests. Further when we raised our concerns with the than standby Manager Mr. Prashant he said we can sit in the same place as no guests were arriving. Thus proving their own staff had lied about reservations.
We were asked to give final order in one go as the Kitchen was about to close. So we placed the orders for starters as well as Main course together. Starters came after almost half n hour and the servers served in plate without providing any spoons/ forks. When we asked for the same the staff took eternity to provide. Further when we asked for lime pieces with for our Tandoori starters, we were told Kitchen has closed and locked and nothing can be provided. When we protested other waiter provide us with the lime pieces. At this time we were already frustrated with the service. When main course arrived we found that few items of our order were missing. We had ordered two dal and two rice. While dal was provided, no rice was provided. In addition one main course dish was missing. The server started argiving that now the kitchen is closed and we won't give anything to you. When we asked the waiter who had taken our order about the main course dish he said it is being cooked in kitchen. Again shows that the staff was blatantly lying again and again. This further frustrated us and all of us got up and left without eating further with half the food still on our plates.
The attaidude of the staff was we don't care if u come back here or not. Have not seen such a poorly managed Restaurant and arrogant staff all my life.
Would never visit this place again and not...
