Yummy Chiken Pakoda
I travelled first time to any city in Odisa so was very excited to try food here. I wanted to try Pidha hotel but it's closed on Saturday evening. Never the less, people had highly recommended me to try chicken pakoda at Girija restaurant. It's not easy to find this place without using Google maps. This place is not at all like the classy restaurant even though it's famous in foodies for it non vej dishes. I started with its signature dish 'Chiken Pakoda' and in the first bite itself got to know why it's such a favourite. The chicken was tender, well cooked with balanced spices. Then I tried methi chicken, which is second signature dish. Being from Maharashtra, it was a delight to taste Methi chicken with butter naan. The taste is really good, chicken again was well cook and spice level was ok. Then to end my meal, I had to try pudding. Not too sweet but taste was good. Now let's see how it stands on CLAPS rating:
C - Cuisine: This place is know for its non-vej dishes and you will enjoy the food here. A full ⭐ here.
L - Location: For a new person, It's bit hard to find without Google maps as it's not on main street. But foodies, it's our place in Berhampur. I would give it half ⭐ here.
A - Ambience: It has a basic sitting area, nothing classy. Come, sit, eat and go. They really need to keep the place look clean. You can see the area where the food is kept and from where it's servered, it needs to be clean. No ⭐ here.
P - Price: I had chicken pakoda, methi chicken, butter naan and pudding just in 300rs. That's affordable. Full ⭐ here.
S - Service: Service was quick. I just had to order and the dish was on my table. Only thing is no one will come to ask you what you want, you will have to find the waiter and order your food. Waiters are polite. I would give it half ⭐ as it's responsibility of people here to keep the place clean.
Overall if I ignore cleanliness then the food was worth a try. Take parcel and enjoy in the coziness of your home.

Basically a destination for chicken lovers even though they serve fish, mutton and veg thalis having mushroom, saag, dahi baigana, bhajja, etc. These shrewds intentionally serve less dal with rice so that they can charge another 10 odd bucks for the extra dal. None of the curries or shallow fry items have that kind of palate. Nevertheless, the chicken korma served during evenings are a must for peeps who prefer less oil and spices. N.B. They charge INR 30 for extra Korma gravy. The Tandoori Chicken served here is never up to the mark. The breads i.e. Naans, Tandoori Rotis are overpriced in respect of their quality and taste. The staff are extremely discourteous. The people at the billing counter are simply impudent. Arrogant folks never ever bother to bring in alternate payment modes like PhonePe, PayTM or GPay. Well, it is reiterated that this is perhaps the only restaurant at Berhampur which serves you the freshest of the chicken irrespective of the day of a week you dine in. And their trademark Chilli and Dahi (curd) chutney in katoris placed on the tables are definitely the best to...

In the chaotic charm of Berhampur's culinary streets, Girija Hotel isn’t just a pitstop.. it’s a palate pilgrimage. Having sampled their famed chicken pakoda and signature pudding, I can safely say.. this wasn’t a meal, it was a well-scripted flavor opera.
The chicken pakoda? A golden-fried manifesto of crunch and crave. Each bite was a masterclass in texture: the outer crust whispered with a spiced crispness, while the inside unraveled into tender, marinated succulence. This isn’t your regular roadside fry-up.. it’s what happens when heat, heritage, and handpicked masalas collide under divine supervision.
Then came the pudding.. a dessert that didn’t just end the meal; it elevated it. Velvety in texture, minimal in ego, and maximal in soul. It had the quiet sophistication of a vintage ghazal..no over-sweet dramatics, just a slow, creamy hum that lingered long after the last spoonful.
In a world full of overhyped plates and Instagram traps, Girija serves unpretentious brilliance.. food that speaks in syllables of nostalgia, finesse, and honest craft. This wasn’t dining. This was gastronomic...
