New Biriyani Center — Restaurant in Odisha

One of the most fomous biryani shop in Brahmapur. A two storeyed building with beautiful ambience and comfortable sitting arrangements. Reception, take-away and kitchen is located on the ground floor while dining hall is on the first and second floor. The first drawback I found that when we entered the restaurant almost all tables were full with customers but none of the staffs arranged a seat for us. Confused where to sit we just roamed here and there. Finally we arranged a sit for ourselves. It is the responsibility of the staffs to guide their customers to a good dining experience. Now lets talk about the food. We simply ordered a plate of chicken dum biryani and a couple of masala cold drinks. Honestly the biryani could have been way better. There was too much use of spices which has led to an imbalance in the taste. In a good biryani you can taste the combined flavor of rice, meat and spices. But here we only got the taste of spices. And adding to that it was not hot at all. There was not much aromatic flavor from it that we usually get while eating a biryani.

I've been there twice now. I've also had their food served in our apartment get togethers. The food is of high quality. Most of the preparations are light and non oily. In the non veg section one gets mutton and chicken biryani and various other preparations of mutton, chicken, prawn, fish etc. Of course, I haven't tried the veg menu which is also quite extensive. Best of all its very reasonably priced. My third visit. It was extremely crowded. I had to climb up to the 3rd floor. The service was slow and that was expected considering the crowd. I visited this place today to parcel a biryani. While the food was good, the overall experience left a lot to be desired. The owner had a rather off-putting attitude, which didn’t feel welcoming. After receiving the bill, I went to the parcel counter and politely requested the staff not to include masala rice, if possible. The person there gave me an unpleasant look and responded quite rudely, saying they only give masala rice when it's requested. I genuinely liked the food, but the behavior of the staff made the experience uncomfortable. It’s disappointing when good food is overshadowed by poor customer service.
