"A contrast in ratables" on the day I had lunch here: great food but slow service. The maître d' was seated nearby and he saw our table had not yet been served, but it took an inordinately long time before one of the waiters came around.
Once he did, though, all went well. The masambi juice and the plentiful chana masala were memorable, garnished (to my happy surprise) with a small bowl of raita. The chapati was a little greasy but passable.
Most of the tables at the Swagat are outdoors, under umbrellas but no protective canopy. I wonder what they do in the rainy season. The smaller indoor room wouldn't be able to accommodate a crowd as large as the one when I came.
Because the surrounding neighborhood is also very busy, a few blocks from the Shivajinagar rail station, I felt the ambience more energetic than I'd have preferred. But if I happened to be in that neighborhood again -- and it weren't raining -- I'd return to the Swagat's...

Read moreThe worst hotel owner ever. He is the least mannered person. Very arrogant. He was very rude and started misbehaving just because we took a mouth freshner placed over his desk. We were ready to pay an extra amount for this still his behavior was not up to the mark.
