We visited this place hoping to enjoy some authentic Marathi food, but unfortunately, the entire experience turned out to be quite disappointing. The quality of the food did not meet our expectations at all. For ₹800 per thali, we were expecting a good variety, great taste, and smooth service — but it was far from that.
Firstly, the food itself was just below average. The flavors were bland, nothing stood out, and it felt like the dishes were just put together without much attention to detail. Even the basics like dal and vegetables were not fresh or flavorful. The bhakri and chapatis took forever to arrive — we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes every single time we asked for one. The same delay happened when we requested more rice. It felt like we were constantly waiting for something rather than enjoying our meal.
Secondly, the service was another letdown. The staff seemed extremely low on energy and not at all attentive. There was no sense of urgency or hospitality, which added to the overall frustration. It wasn’t even a very crowded time, so we couldn’t understand why things were moving so slowly.
At ₹800 per plate, you’d expect at least decent service and satisfying food. Unfortunately, we left feeling like it was a total waste of money. There are many better and more affordable options in the city for traditional Marathi food that actually care about both taste and customer experience.
Would not recommend this place unless they seriously improve their food quality, service speed, and...
Read moreNEGATIVE RATINGS ! HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE —This restaurant started on a right note ie.,decent food, nice staff but with time it is down the drains ie.,low food quality but to top it all service standards have gone down.My Mom ordered Rava-Idli and we were served Plain Idli.On complaining the Manager Anil Alva arrogantly told us that this is what South Samrat calls as Rava Idli and “ we can leave the restaurant if we don’t like it !” . Anil Alva created a big ruckus & commotion ie.,he made linguistic, regionalistic & religious comments upon my family & my elderly mother. I think such a Manager is detrimental to health of any organisation, itself customers & owners , and he must not be allowed to be in the hospitality industry. I request all self-respecting patrons to avoid & boycott SOUTH SAMRAT.We go there for good times & don’t pay to get insulted by likes of ANIL ALVA ! I pray to God that like Sai Sagar,Wanowrie & other arrogant restaurants in vicinity this restaurant...

Dear [Owner/Manager],
This is Shilpa, writing to share feedback regarding an incident that occurred during our visit to your restaurant this morning. We were a group of four adults and two children, visiting for breakfast.
While placing our order, your captain informed us that sambar is served free of charge in your restaurant. However, the manner in which it was conveyed—using the phrase "Daan dete hai"—was both unprofessional and disrespectful. As paying customers, we found this terminology highly inappropriate and offensive.
We chose to leave the restaurant without having breakfast because of this unpleasant experience. While I refrained from expressing my disappointment publicly at the time, I strongly feel such behavior is unacceptable in the service industry.
I trust you will address this issue to ensure a more respectful and welcoming approach toward all your patrons in the...
