Jashn — Restaurant in Pune

Update Oct 2023 Jashn no more is our go to place. A few months ago we went and then while walking down the stairs my teen daughter fell due to an onrushing waiter nudging her. The stairs don’t have railings. She wasn’t hurt much but the sad part was none of the staff or manager came upto ask if she is ok or need medical. They saw but didn’t care.

Today 14 Oct we went again and the restaurant kitchen had some short circuit fire and lights went off entire restaurant. Since we were sitting on roof we had to wait for lights to come for service to resume. Lights didn’t come for 1.5hr almost. Hence we just had to sit around with candles. Worse due to the bad experience we asked for a discount on bill but not a cent was discounted - overseas or in reputed restaurants in India, for such a fiasco entire bill could be waived off or a heavy discount given. Sure the restaurant Mgmt is arrogant. When we wanted to leave (during lights off) they produced a rough paper bill (machine wasn’t operating) but smartly added GST to it. When we asked to remove GST from a random paper bill they asked us to sit till lights come for electronic bill.

Will I go again to Jashn. Nopes. never.

Overhyped and arrogant where crowds were flocking in dark just for hookah (knowing no food can be cooked or served due to darkness). Till patrons see through the arrogance of management and start avoiding the place, the restaurant won’t learn lessons. March 2022 Jashn deserves better rating than what’s shown here. It has three levels of indoor and outdoor sitting, all with different decor, so you can sit in different ambience each time. We are non alocoholics and neither sheesha fans. But it felt nice to see crowds around (normal days) enjoying on Sheesha with Eminem music in low volume and Egyptian decor (second floor).

Food is good. Even my daughter (it was her birthday) said the Arrabbiata pasta was better than what she ate at other western restaurants. We ordered the mutton paya soup, chicken kashmiri shahi soup, chicken angara, paneer ajwain tikka, chicken matka curry, naan, caramel custard, kit kat sundae… all were good and no complaints. All the dishes ranged from 4/5 to 5/5 in taste. Portion size is good for the cost. Service is excellent. Arif bhai suggested us all the dishes and waiter Ayan was extremely prompt and caring towards us.

We will go Jashn again in...

I have rarely explored places in Wanowrie and nearby. Recently heard about this place named jashn having revamped itself and turned into a bigger and better place. Undoubtedly, Jashn won my heart with all its good food ,spectacular ambience and the herbal hukkah that it serves! They have 3 levels apart from the regular outdoor seating area. The lower one is for fine dine whereas the above two are specifically for the hukkah lovers. Authentic mughlai ,north indian and middle eastern cuisine is what the place majorly serves . Here is what I had- 1)Angara kebabs -A Lip smacking starter , bit on the spicier side these succulent chicken kebabs were absolutely delish. 2)Peri Peri Chicken - A good pick for people who are fond of spicy food . Served with a salad , garlic bread and a dip and some rice this one was perfect. 3)Virgin Pinacolada - This is my all time favourite and the one they served was surprisingly very good4)Chicken tikka Biryani - This was one of its kind.Highly recommended , yeilding the flavours and aroma of the authentic north indian cuisine.5)Shawarma  Plate - Not always is it that I love shawarma unless its perfect and this place just makes the best one. Do give it a try.6)Prawns Tandoori - Being a seafood lover I devour prawns like crazy .Found this one to be decent.7)Butter Chicken - Aggain a must have when in Jashn. Do not miss ordering this else you will seriously repent I tell you. It was just perfect unlike the sweet version of it that we get mostly.This was served with naans and rotis.8)Murgh Chingari - Boiling hot chicken curry served on the table and mindblowing in taste.9)Chocolate Mousse - Loved this among the dessert. They also serve gulabjamuns, in case you crave for one.

Now the best part- HOOKAHS The hukkas they serve are completely herbal and most importantly the taste does not change. Not just this but there are a lot of innovative hukkas which you can try here . They serve - Mocktail Hookahs Fruit Tower Hokkahs Ice bucket Hookahs and a few other  hukkahs. I had the brain freeze flavoured hukka and absolutely loved it .

Do pay a visit . I am sure you will...

I always believe, Eating and Dinning are teo different things. Eating is an activity, Dinning -An experience.

And that experience i felt here. I am not sure if i felt so good after visiting any place the way i felt after visiting them.

This is a late night open place where they almost have 4 different places to sit and chill. Ground floor (outdoor and indoor)- if u wanna have decent family dinner. 1st floor: closed sitting where hookah is served. 2nd floor: roof top, hookh is served here too.

Ambience of every floor is so good and so chill with light music . We preferred to sit roof top. Crowd is very decent .

Staff service is extremly good, from making u sit to changing coal in hookahs to taking order to serve you. The best part in their staff, they haf rhat smile on their face which makes u to love that place more.

Talking about hookah: we ordered magahi paan flavour: I can certainly say this was the best hookah ever served to me in any commerical place. So smooth.

We ordered: Masala pappadum, followed by chicken peshawari tikka. I can still feel how extremely well marinated and cooked chicken was. It was extremely soft and spices were just perfect.

At the last we orderd chicken dum biryani: Hats off to you guys, I mean i can vouch for it blindly till now the best briyani i ever had in any restaurant in pune. This was perfect Dum biryani for me. Every flavour of khada masalas u can taste, chicken was so well cooked and marinated that u can slice it out with knife and folk ao easily u even dont need to use hands.

If someone would ask me to be very much critisizer, i would point out thr raita given with biryani was not good.

Rest I am not sure if i felt so good and happy after visiting any place ever. This has become my ever to visit place any weekend.
