While there already exists bars and lounges that let the customers bid on their drinks, The Bid Capital is a one-of-a-kind restaurant which allows their customers to bid on the food as well.
The bidding process on drinks and food are slightly different. While bids on drinks are singular [one drink at a time], on food it is applied on the entire cart. Add all the dishes to the cart, which shows you the MRP total and you can then place your bid accordingly. Bid too low and it’s likely to get rejected, bid too close to the MRP and you won’t save much.
Coming to the place itself, The Bid Capital has a wonderful ambiance with ample use of natural greenery decking the walls which is a welcome sight for sore eyes. The seating is divided into 3 sections – al fresco, indoor and mezzanine.
The Illusionist has a base of brandy and blended with coffee extract and topped with whipped cream. In my case, they used the unsweetened cream that’s traditionally used in the kitchens rather than bars. And trust me, this version tasted so much better than the regular version
The Hybrid Manhattan Sour was the typical Manhattan Sour with a TBC twist. Cutting the sugar syrup out of the drink, it tasted just as good.
The Tipsy Tea had a blend of Gin, jasmine tea, and lime juice with some dried tea leaves sprinkled on top of the foam as garnish. Decent flavors however I wasn’t too thrilled by the dry bite of the tea as after-taste.
Small Plates (Indian) Narangi Bhel had puffed rice with seasonal citrus fruits, and Asian dressing tossed together and served with sour cream and balsamic pearls while the Amritsari Spiced Fish and Chips had fried tempura fish [Basa] with cumin green pea mash, and served with tartar sauce, caper kachumber and French fries. Both had its quirks in flavors, the citrus gave a nice acidic hit to the puffed rice, and the crunchy caper kachumber proved a perfect crunchy foil to the soft and melt-in-mouth fish. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended
The Bid Capital Basket had fried drumsticks and wings served with spiced fries and a sweet-spicy sauce. The chicken was extremely tender and flavorful while the fried coating added the necessary crunch.
Small Plates (World) While not exactly a towering personality, the House Cooked Nacho Tower had crisp tortillas, refried beans, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, jalapeno and aged cheddar cheese sauce while the Maayhem Fries Chicken had crispy chicken bits, and cheddar cheese in a thousand-island dressing. Personally, I felt the quantity of guacamole and tomato salsa on the nachos to be on the lower side. And I never knew that the TID would go so well with fries. #DeliciousDelicious
Dim Sums The dim sums are currently limited on the menu, with only a vegetable and one pork on offer. Tried the Five Spiced Pork Dim Sums which were outstanding. A perfect blend of spices with a tender pork filling, this one ticked all the right boxes for me.
World Plates The Chicken Tikka Risotto was quite a revelation. Short grain Arborio rice with spicy chicken tikka and Grana Padano cheese, this dish had all the hallmarks of a perfect risotto. The al-dente rice still retained some of its bite while the aromatic chicken tikka provided ample flavor to the dish. #YumYum #HighlyRecommended
The Chandni Chowk Ka Butter Chicken was the traditional dilliwala butter chicken. While the flavors were there, unfortunately, I found it a little too oily [yes, I spooned it up and checked and no, it wasn’t ghee or butter].
The Burmese Khowsuey was served in a large bowl with cute cups housing the accompaniments. Well-made dish but I would’ve preferred the noodles being served separately instead of pre-mixed and the broth itself could’ve been a tad thicker.
A refreshing new place, which attempts to completely automate your experience and goes paperless in the process, The Bid Capital has some a lot of cuisines and quirky cocktails in its arsenal. A little bit of a smart play and you’re sure to get mucho savings here. Who knows, maybe you could even attain the elusive Johnnie Walker [a Level 10...
Read more•••Bidding on food and drinks first time in Pune••• Bidding on drinks is common in Pune but on food is something trendsetting nowadays. In the technical world, one needs apps as well as equally important things.TBC has generated an app for ordering drinks and food which you online bid on it and win the food in minimum amount as possible. Also the staff is on App and is very active and prompt with the orders.I first time experienced bidding on anything and for me I can say was a really good experience so far! By creating app, they have positively showed of paperless menus.
Also talking about ambience, the set up is tentalizing and superior as the service. The rusty vintage look of the inside area and outside with wooden cute tables.Upper seating area is available with bar counter.Pune needed such a place on Fc road that youngsters would definitely attract towards the theme and concept. Though the parking issue still remains. It could have been better if they would provide Parking for vehicles.
