ZAMU’S has always been popular for their Continental and Parsi delicacies. A good old Restro one can enjoy at leisure, sipping on beers with your buddies or celebrate occasions with your parents. Location : Nirmal Bldg, Dhole Patil Rd. Newly renovated looks amazing . Indoor seating have wooden tables and European crafted chairs giving it a cool café look.
In Yr. 1988 Zamu’s started serving Sizzlers (new introduction to Pune) serving scrumptious pork and steak sizzlers. A Sizzler is a treat you give yourself. A hot plate is loaded with veggies, grilled meats, a sauce, rice/ noodles and fries.
So we ordered Chicken Shashlik Sizzler. Spicy chunky chicken, garlicky sauce. Smells of burnt sticky sauce and aroma of grills is too much to wait for but one needs to else you get a burnt tongue. The sizzler has undergone a change, tweaked to the likes of the younger generation.
Mutton Chops - European style with minimal seasoning, allows you to enjoy the goodnesses of the meat. I was tasting this for the first time. Was not very impressed with this.
Salli Boti with Brun Pav - Boneless mutton cooked in hot spices,Parsi style masalas ,dhana jeera, gravy dominant with sweet and sour elements. A generous quantity of hot crispy fried golden potatoes shreds (salli)sprinkled over the meaty gravy.Dunk in the brun , it absorb this gravy. Now eat..Delicious. Lo
Desserts: Lagan Nu Custard : A traditional dessert at Parsi weddings. Custard is flavourful with nutmeg, cardamon. Added to this is generous amount of sultans, cashews, calumpang nuts (charoli)and baked until light golden. Oh my goodness it was so rich and creamy. Served cold. A treat I couldn’t resist!
Crème Caramel (Caramel Custard) Sweet Silky smooth golden brown dessert. Served upside down with a layer of caramel sauce on the top. Slurp in the sauce .. It was so soft and creamy and I loved it!

*2025 Update:-
A gastronomic heart break!
The place appears derelict, forlorn and uncared for. Couple of old time waiters, furniture shabbily strewn around, inadequate lighting casts a shadow on its former self.
Food is even more disheartening! The iconic pork chop sizzler is overcooked to a dry and grainy texture. Natural flavour of pork which depends on just the right amount of cooking, is totally missing. The dish is over sauced with a bite of salt in every morsel. The mashed potato is milky white with no flavour or texture of the original ingredient. The recipe is not known. Powdered potato? Who knows! The vegetables, nondescript at their best.
Nothing remains for ever, so another one bites the dust!
I will always remember this place for what...
Read moreWe recently visited this sizzler specialty restaurant that we had been eager to try again after a long while. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we discovered the place was undergoing renovations, so only the outside seating was available. This was a bit disappointing, especially as it was raining and quite cold.
Browsing through the menu, it was evident that this place is a paradise for non-veg food lovers. We decided to create our own sizzlers from the available options, opting for one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian sizzler.
In terms of taste, both sizzlers were incredibly delicious. However, the portion sizes were quite small, which was a letdown. Additionally, the sauces, which were served separately, were very limited in quantity. So, while we enjoyed the flavors, the overall experience felt somewhat incomplete.
The restaurant also offers mild beer and wine, which can be enjoyed alongside your meal, adding a pleasant touch to the dining experience.
In summary, while the taste of the sizzlers deserves full marks, the portion size and limited sauces only earn 50%. Overall, it was a half-hearted experience due to the renovation and small portions, but the exceptional taste makes it...
