Fatehchand Deewanchand Kachori Wala: Disappointing Kachoris and Long Waits Fatehchand Deewanchand Kachori Wala comes with a lot of hype, but my recent experience left me wanting more. Here's why:
Unexceptional Kachoris:
The star of the show, the Kachori, was a major letdown. It tasted average, like any other kachori you might find in Ahmedabad. There was nothing unique or special about the flavor or the preparation that justified the hype.
Painfully Long Waits:
Be prepared for a wait! With a minimum wait time of 20 minutes, grabbing a quick bite here can turn into a time commitment. This might be a dealbreaker for some, especially considering the average quality of the kachoris.
Hygiene Concerns:
The overall hygiene standards at the shop were questionable. This is a significant concern for anyone prioritizing cleanliness.
Overall:
While Fatehchand Deewanchand Kachori Wala is a popular spot, the long wait times, average kachoris, and questionable hygiene make it a bit overhyped. There are likely other kachori vendors in Ahmedabad that offer better quality and a more pleasant experience.
Recommendation:
Unless you're particularly curious about this historic shop's offerings, I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit Fatehchand Deewanchand Kachori Wala. You can probably find equally delicious (or even better) kachoris elsewhere with shorter wait times and better...

A small street vendor but with a huge heart! Eat first, pay later ONLY IF U LIKED THE FOOD and if u want. They won't ask u for money by themselves. U ask and they'll tell u. 35rs for a plate if 2 kachoris. Customise as per ur need with garnishing like onion, green chilli chutneys. Green chutney available with and without onion garlic. Coming to taste, they were decent. Nothing exciting or out of the world. But the experience was different seeing how they work purely on trust.! Highly crowded at all times, wait times 10-30 mins average... Be prepared to stand with patience as they won't treat u out of turn howsoever big an order u got to place. Opens at 6am and winds up around 12-12.30pm depending upon sale. U can carry kachoris to home place and they guarantee 5-7 days shelf life for the kachori. But if u get them packed then they won't pack chutneys. U got to have them with curd and salt as per the owner (haven't...
Read moreWe were here after reading the Google reviews and attraction place of Jaisalmer. Too crowded and waiting period is too high. They have limited stock which is freshly prepared daily. If you are not local then it's difficult to guess between owner and customer. They keep tourist waiting and serve local first as if selling in black. They don't need customer and are very rude. If you ask them when can you expect your turn the boy straight forward mentioned if you ask this you will not get it and come back tomorrow. It's not worth to spend time on waiting instead try the neighbour stall he got the the same taste. The stall is on main road so no place to sit. Just wait on road for your turn. Early bird might have chance to get it without wait. They have earned fame so they don't need the tourist now. Itna importance ek Kachori ko dene se acha hai mandir mein...
