This is an underrated place for the 'old school guys', who wish to have live and slow cooked tasty food which feeds their belly and heart both.✌️
You will be welcomed by the super warm, energetic 'husband & wife' duo; the former 'Mr. Chef Tomjor' having a family history of cooking and serving nutritious and tasty food in both Sikkim and Dubai and the latter having a stint with one of the famous International Airlines company.
Together, they both will serve you slow and just finely cooked local as well and international cuisines, with both veg and non- veg preferences.
They will take more time than normal places but they will bring you something that will give you a feeling of enrichment down you food pipe and heart. And while this happens, you can enjoy the calm vibe of the restaurant along with the cafe- themed music playlist playing in the background.
And trust me on this, if you decide to go and try their food, you will be lickin your fingers, sending them best wishes by heart with every bite you eat and bringing more of the like- minded 'old school' guys like you. You would really love the vibe and the location of this place.❤️
The place is walking distance from Mahatma Gandhi statue on MG Marg, Gangtok and it definitely needs a visit by the 'good food and good times' enthusiasts, the ones who appreciate quality time and quality food. ✌️
The food items are available at reasonable prices and they are worth every rupee spent.
God bless you guys and may you and your family keep cooking delicious food till the end of time on this planet earth.🤩
P.S. they decided to serve us when they were about to close last night, and the food quality was uncompromisingly and absolutely top notch. This is the hospitality which is rare to find these days. Thanks for your warm hosting guys. 🥂

Long Review : We found this restaurant in a chilling winter evening in which it was raining cats and dogs in Gangtok, and we had travelled for nearly 24 hrs without any proper meal. We, a group of 5, ordered a long list of items including Chicken Thukpa (which was literally the best I have ever had), Phingsha (a delicacy made with glass noodles), Tingmo (fresh & soft) with Lowa Khatsa (a beautiful dish made with lungs of mutton), Corn Soup (simple yet delicious and soul-touching in that chilled weather), Chicken Fried Rice with Chilly Pork tossed in oyester sauce and Caramelized Chicken (just a wow recipe). All items were excellent and distinct in flavour. On the last day of our trip from North Sikkim, we again headed to this restaurant - such was its impact. We tried Chicken Thukpa yet again, and the star of the experience - Chicken Pad Thai Noodles - what a dish ! At last came the show stopper, White Laphing - a signature dish of the Chef & a delicacy that we were lucky to have on our platter. Shambhala is not just a brilliant restaurant, it is an experience all together. If "will travel for food" is a thing, for me Gangtok would be...
Read moreShambala on Tibet Road is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience with different types of cuisines. Specializing in Tibetan and Oriental cuisines, this cozy restaurant is run by its owners, ensuring a warm, homely ambience that immediately puts you at ease.
The Tibetan dishes are so delicious, especially the Momo and Thukpa, are nothing short of amazement. Each bite reflects the authenticity and skill of the chef. The Momo are delicate and flavourful, while the Thukpa offers a comforting balance of rich broth and fresh ingredients. Perfect dishes during this present chilling winter. Shambala’s take on Thai cuisine, particularly the Pad Thai, is mouthwatering and impressively presentable—perfectly cooked noodles with a harmonious blend of tangy, sweet, and nutty flavours.
Hygiene is a top priority here, with every corner of the restaurant spotless and well-maintained. The owners’ personal involvement in running the place ensures that the service is attentive and genuinely hospitable.
Its prime location, just steps away from MG Marg, makes it an ideal spot for locals and tourists alike. Whether you’re looking for a quiet meal or a flavourful exploration of Tibetan and Thai cuisines, Shambala is the right...
