As a diner who actually is a regular at Dekevas Siliguri, it is with a heavy heart I’m writing this review. An eatery can be well located, the food might also be good but it all boils down to staff behaviour. Because no one wants to go to a restaurant where you are treated badly. And that is exactly what happened in our case. We decided to go there for our lunch (after having gone there only a few days back and actually tipping the cashier). As a customer when you see an open sign on the door you expect it to be open. We went in and asked for the menu but the waiter said the since the staff is having lunch it should take half an hour for them to serve us. My question why mark the shop open when that is the case. Also can’t the staff have their meals in the batches so no customer is left attended. I also work in the service industry and know that staff needs to feed as well but how you handle a customer in such situation is key. We asked if they could do something easy and quick like a chowmein but to our astonishment a kitchen staff rudely could be heard “hundaina” or “no can’t do”. Now I ask everyone how do you react to that as a customer. So we quietly got up and left without making a fuss. But it says a lot about how the place is run. And if you ask me if I’ll go there again or recommend it to people, probably no! I didn’t want to write this review but the management should be aware how the staff behaves in their absence. The food and the ambience is actually good but it is just sad that the customers are treated that way. 1 star just to make the...
Read moreMy wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dekevas in Siliguri during the early evening hours for an impromptu dinner date. Our experience was a mixed bag, with both highlights and a few disappointments.
We kicked off our meal with the Dragon Chicken Bao, and it was a delightful start to our culinary journey. The soft, fluffy bao buns were a perfect vehicle for the tender and flavorful dragon chicken filling. The fusion of flavors in this dish was spot-on, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
Next up was the Japanese Chicken Ramen. Unfortunately, this dish didn't quite meet our expectations. The broth was somewhat lacking in depth and flavor, bordering on bland. However, the restaurant redeemed itself by providing an assortment of condiments, including chili sauce. A generous dash of spice transformed the ramen into a much more enjoyable experience, and we appreciated the flexibility in customizing our meal.
The third item we ordered was the Tuna Kimbab, and this was where our experience took a downturn. The addition of a fried egg in the kimbab seemed out of place and didn't quite harmonize with the overall flavor profile. It left us with a somewhat perplexing taste in our mouths, and we found ourselves wishing for a more traditional rendition of this classic...

Additionally, I loved the rice bowl - bibimbap. It was loaded with fresh vegetables, flavorful meat, and perfectly cooked rice, making it a truly satisfying and tasty meal. I highly recommend trying it out when you visit Dekevas Express.
