WHERE ARE YOUR BACK-TO-BASICS? I stayed at this hotel in #406 on 15th January as transit since I was to catch a flight from Bagdogra. Check-in was good. The lady receptionist was quite efficient to attend. I requested for a cab for airport drop at 8 am for the following morning. The lady from the reception was kind enough to call me in my room to confirm the same… In the room they have this sliding door to access washroom. There is a latch that is protruding which is a potential hazard. I hurt my forearm due to this latch. It’s a very small scratch though. Also when I slide closed the door, it got locked. I tried to open it by inserting my credit card to push the latch back and it worked. I was too tired to report this so I left it at that. Today, I went to the reception sharp at 7.30 am and informed that I need to checkout so keep things ready. In the mean time, went to catch up with my breakfast. I was majorly disappointed that it was past 7.30 and the breakfast layout wasn’t ready yet. They were still struggling to put things together. When I checked why the buffet is not ready, the answer was, “ha aj thoda late ho gaya”. And there was no sign of any apology or concern at all. I picked some fruits and went to table. U also wanted to have wheat flakes with cold milk but could not because the cold milk was not available at that time. After finishing the fruits, I went back to pick up some other dishes. Again I checked for the cold milk, it wasn’t there yet. Now I requested a lady to get me the cold milk and share the bowl on my table which she did. When I come back to the table, my previous plate is still uncleared. I picked up the plate and cleared it at the site station. Now I asked for fresh orange juice and also a black coffee. Take a guess, it did not come at all and after waiting for good long time, I left without my coffee and juice. Still there is no concern shown by anyone. Yes, there was a gentleman in black suite, I presume, he must be the restaurant manager. He was also around with no concerns whatsoever. He is just hanging around not even adding an ornamental value. Once he did come to our table to ask if our stay is okay and if we want to order a cheese dosa which we did not order since we were in a rush. Now I come to the reception only to find out that they are not yet ready with my check-out procedure. They are fighting it out to get print out. When I asked what is the delay about, the answer was, “we were waiting for transaction authentication”. Siriously…..🤔😳 I wonder what were they doing since I informed them about my check-out at 7.30 am and now it was about 8 ???? Guys please have some courtesy… or at least be professional. I was only looking for basics and nothing more. You all could have avoided all those anxieties for me had you guys been on top of your game. Please be aware that you are representing an established brand and when someone is dealing with you then you are the face of that brand at that point of...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but my recent stay at the Hiland Hotel was so distressing that I feel compelled to share my experience. My time at this hotel was marred by unprofessional and unacceptable behavior from the staff, particularly from a receptionist named Mr Azizul. If you value respectful and competent service, I strongly recommend considering alternative accommodations.
Arrival and Check-In Process:
My troubles began upon arrival. We had made a reservation in advance and presented our Aadhar cards as proof of identity, which is a standard practice in India. However, Mr Azizul, the receptionist, immediately dismissed our documents, stating that the hotel does not accept Aadhar cards. This was confusing and frustrating, especially since Aadhar is a widely accepted form of ID in India. Azizul's tone was dismissive and condescending, adding to the frustration.
During Our Stay:
While the physical aspects of the hotel—such as the room and amenities—were reasonably decent.
Checkout Experience:
The situation worsened during checkout. We were subjected to yet another round of indignity. Mr Azizul, who was present at the reception, and other lady assisting him was the main source of our discomfort. Not only did they delay our checkout process for unreasonable 20 minutes, It seemed as though they were deliberately trying to make our departure as unpleasant as our arrival.
Conclusion:
In summary, my experience at the Hiland Hotel was profoundly disappointing due to the unprofessional and discourteous behavior of receptionist Mr Azizul and lady assisting him. The hotel’s facilities might meet standards, but the service leaves much to be desired. The inability of the staff to handle common situations with professionalism and courtesy significantly detracted from what could have been a pleasant stay.
If you value your dignity and expect to be treated with respect, I would strongly recommend exploring other options. This experience has certainly deterred me from considering Hiland Hotel for any future stays, and I hope that management takes note of these concerns and addresses the issues with their staff to prevent future guests from enduring similar...

Update:
Visit time :16 Sep 2022, Friday. 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
This is my visit after 3 years hence an update would be enlightening.
The menu has grown, lots of exotic and rare items added such as Squids, Crabs, and Lobsters are now available. Food remains awesome, can't wait to taste other items in the menu, especially since haven't seen squids, lobsters or crabs in many restaurants in Siliguri. Full marks to the chef for taste, presentation. Food department, excellent.
However have to add, noticed some scope for improvement in the hospitality segment. Except a few most staff seemed to be smiling less or rather unhappy.
Being humans we do have our up's and down's but our personal life or personal problems should not affect our work, these problems prevent us from putting our best face forward.
Perhaps it was the rain or less number of diners that cast a gloomy shadow or on a lighter note perhaps they were having a " Bad hair day", or maybe it was just a one off incident. Whatever the reason, felt that service could have been a little better.
If you do not want to risk service to ruin your experience, you could order in from Swiggy Or Zomato. Apart from this tiny negative vibe, which may not even be picked up by many, there are tons of positive things to talk about.
The food was so good that it trumped everything. Food definitely among the top restaurants of Siliguri. Be sure to check out Chicken steak and Thai grilled chicken. May God bless you all, stay...
