Disappointing Experience at Adyar Ananda Bhavan
I visited Adyar Ananda Bhavan on 16/12/2023 arriving at the restaurant at 10:45 AM. My experience, unfortunately, was far from satisfactory, marred by poor service and management issues.
Delayed Service and Lack of Information: Upon arrival, my family and I were made to wait until 11:05 AM without any clear communication from the staff. It was only after this 20-minute wait that we were informed the table in that restaurant was self-service, a detail that should have been communicated immediately upon our entry.
Unavailable Menu Items: Further adding to the frustration, several menu items we were interested in were not available. This was only communicated to us after we had already waited and decided on our order, leading to further delays and confusion.
Management and Staff Confusion: The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. There was a noticeable lack of coordination among the team, and the management did not seem to take charge of the situation or offer any solutions to the apparent chaos.
Impact on Dining Experience: These issues significantly detracted from our dining experience. The initial excitement of trying Adyar Ananda Bhavan's cuisine was overshadowed by the frustration of poor service and management.It was faced in the coffee bar where the preference was given to other staff than ppl who are asked to do self service.
I would suggest better staff training, especially in customer communication and management. Clear signage about the self-service system and real-time updates on menu availability could also greatly enhance the customer experience.

The taste of the food was exceptional. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. From the perfectly spiced curries to the crisp salads and unique fusion dishes, everything was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. Even the simplest items on the menu had a depth of flavor that showed true culinary skill.
The service was just as impressive by the Captain Shyam Babu. He was incredibly warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made excellent recommendations based on our preferences and were quick to accommodate dietary needs without hesitation. He checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed, but never in an intrusive way.
The atmosphere was calm and inviting—perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. It's clear that this place is run with passion and a true love for vegetarian cuisine.

Unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. The utensils, including the tumblers, were rusted and appeared unclean. Despite pointing this out, they were neither replaced nor cleaned. I’ve shared photographs here as evidence.
I ordered Pongal, Rava Dosa, two Idlis, and a Vada. To my dismay, I found a small hair in the Pongal towards the end of my meal. When I brought this to the staff’s attention, the response was disappointing. The service person informed their higher official, who approached me with a smile and casually offered a discount for the Pongal. I clarified that I wasn’t looking for a discount and proceeded to pay the full bill, which is also shared here for reference. However, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the issue.
