We visited this restaurant for a family lunch on a Sunday. It was an ad-hoc plan, and given the time crunch, we didn’t read through any reviews beforehand. The surroundings were promising, with a charming outdoor seating setup amidst mango trees, which gave us hope for a pleasant experience. There were two enclosed dining areas, and we initially chose one side with empty tables, only to be surprisingly asked to move to the other section. There was no clear reason for this, as no one was waiting, which made the request confusing and frustrating.
After moving, the other side looked similarly worn out, but we found an empty table in the corner and sat down. Then came the long wait. For 15 minutes, no one came to our table—not even to give us the menu. I had to go to the bill desk to complain. The staff at the desk informed another person, who lethargically handed us the menu with zero enthusiasm before disappearing again for another 10 minutes. After multiple calls, we finally got to place our order about 25 minutes in.
The seafood was not something to boast about here. While the lobster was decently priced for its size, the other fishes were definitely on the higher side. The lobster itself was slightly chewy, with a hint of being overcooked, though the lemon butter sauce was a nice touch. The golden fried prawns, unfortunately, were coated in a 'bajji' batter, making them more doughy than crispy, which was a disappointment. 5 prawns for Rs400 and served with ketchup was too overpriced. The bread assortments and the main course gravies were decent, but nothing to write home about. The food’s spice level wasn’t too high, which was a relief for us.
The place is severely understaffed and not equipped to handle even a moderate crowd. While the food tasted decent overall, the poor service, long waits, and general lack of attentiveness along with overpricing really put a damper on what could have been a...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant for a Sunday lunch, and while we hadn't consulted reviews beforehand, our experience aligned with the majority of them. If you're a fan of authentic South Indian seafood with bold flavors, this might not be the place for you. For those willing to spend generously on seafood that lacks depth of taste, this establishment could be worth a visit. It may suit first-time seafood eaters or those interested in international cuisine, but the dishes we sampled felt underwhelming and somewhat bland.
The pepper chicken we ordered had a flavor profile more reminiscent of butter chicken with an excessive amount of pepper, rather than the distinctive spice mix typically found in pepper chicken. The crab curry, similarly, seemed to use a common gravy base, with the crab appearing to be simply boiled or steamed and then added to the sauce. Additionally, the parottas were pre-packaged and of poor quality, after consuming it resembling glue stuck in your stomach.
On a positive note, the ghee rice was a decent choice. The service was attentive, with our server accommodating specific requests and offering a complimentary rasam for our child. However, considering the overall experience, this restaurant may not be ideal for those on a budget or seeking a truly flavorful...
Read moreLocated near Uthandi, ECR chennai. A kind of restaurant with open outdoor tables in a big lawn setup. They also have indoor hut like structure with its side open to the lawn. Outdoor ambience in aruvi theme definitely attracts many who need a relaxing vibe close to nature. Coming to the food, it has mixed opinion for me. Butter Naan ₹70: Excellent out of all dishes i had here. Very soft & well cooked one. Chicken Tikka Masala ₹350: Taste ok. Chicken pieces were good. By seeing the color, looks like more color ingredients but no complaints in taste. Mutton Biriyani ₹350: This one dish spoils the overall good opinion about this place food. No flavour, no taste, less spicy makes it a very normal mixed kind of rice. But to be surprise, mutton pieces were well cooked & taste good. We just mixed masala from side dish and managed to eat fully. Lot to improve in biriyani taste. Chilli Fish ₹400: Chinese type with sweet sauces. Taste good but costly. Yera Thokku ₹400: chettinadu style masala with medium size prawns. Masala good but very spicy. High price for this quantity. They are not serving regular water but only water bottles for ₹20. They have to improve the portions for all side dishes. On the whole, except biriyani all other...
