Ascot Multi Cuisine Restaurant at Ooty — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Called restaurant today to book table as mentioned in zomato,the person on phone said ala carte is not available only buffet is there ,and it's special theme today from Kashmir to kanyakumari. I asked if we can take ala carte ,he said no for today it's only for people who are staying in club Mahindra,and when asked for buffet price he said , we will offer you member offer which is 1030+ taxes and buffet doesn't require any booking.So Me and my Mom went ,first we got disappointed with food as it was just average,may be our expectations was too high ,then when I went to pay I was charged Non member price ,when I asked that someone on phone communicated me that they will offer member price which is 1003+ taxes and then they corrected me that member price is 1030+ taxes,the male and female on counter looked at each other and had expressions on face like we can't offer .I said if they can search from contact number as may bebe Mom is club Mahindra member,but they we're adamant on physical card.So no attempt to help or apologies for such wrong communications. It doesn't matter if I had to pay non member charges ,but then don't make false commitments.It was utter disappointment .Though the people at buffet area who were serving 2 boys and one girl were really good and also helped with suggestions on local doctor as I had a need.In my view and experience,for sure this restaurant is not worth going,neither for the food and for price ,for sure not worth . Ascot is the in-house restaurant in Club Mahindra Derby Green heritage property. The restaurant has an old world charm. There are two dining sections, the one to the left when you enter is mostly used for buffet and the one on the right mostly for a la carte dining. Had great dining experience here as I have had in other Club Mahindra properties. The staff is very courteous and attentive. They were at their smiling best even when under lot of pressure with the large number of guests to handle. The first day when I had mentioned that we are planning to catch the Toy Train to Coonoor and spend the day there, they surprised us by packing some croissants and muffins for the trip. They did the same for our return trip too, on the day we checked out. Tried various cuisines including the local cuisine and it was good. The Ooty chicken curry, yellow daal, tawa phulka were all good. Didn't have high expectations when we ordered pizza but when it arrived, it was seriously loaded with fresh ingredients and loads of cheese. Price here is on the...

We visited the restaurant for breakfast after reading the reviews.The person at the counter took our details and asked for our preference of alcarte or Buffet.I told him we would like alacarte breakfast to which he mentioned that as we were not staying at the hotel we could only get buffet breakfast which was 982 rupees per person.When I told him it was too costly he looked at our family ,myself,wife and my two daughters and told that he will charge for only two persons but we will have to take the buffet only.We agreed.The Buffet spread was nothing special....Idly,chole bhature and dosas and fruits.We ate the chole bhatures and had a coffee and left after paying 1964 rs for breakfast.I could have eaten much more in this amount 😉.
