Disappointing Experience at OMR Barbeque Nation, Thoraipakkam
I recently visited the OMR Barbeque Nation branch in Thoraipakkam with a group of over 15 people, and unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired.
Seating Discomfort for a Large Group: Despite informing the staff in advance and requesting proper arrangements for our group, we were given only a few 4-seater tables. This resulted in a scattered and disconnected seating arrangement that was far from ideal for a large gathering.
Air Conditioning Issues Ignored: The dining environment was extremely uncomfortable due to inadequate air conditioning. I brought this up several times and requested that the temperature be adjusted, but my concerns were ignored. I ended up sweating and feeling suffocated throughout the meal, which significantly hampered our overall experience.
Misleading Pricing Information: At the time of booking, I was informed multiple timesโover three phone callsโthat the cost per person was โน900 inclusive of tax. However, we were later billed โน900 plus tax, which came as a surprise. This lack of clear communication and transparency is unacceptable.
Undercooked Food Served Repeatedly: One of the most concerning issues was the poorly cooked chicken leg. Though it looked fine on the outside, the inside was noticeably undercooked. I returned it five times, but even after repeated requests, the quality remained the same. It raised serious concerns about food safety and kitchen standards.
Unwelcoming Service at Entry: Our experience started on a sour note as there was no proper welcome from the staff upon arrival. A warm and professional reception can make a big difference, but that was clearly missing here.
Final Thoughts: For a brand as well-known as Barbeque Nation, this visit was disappointing in every aspectโfrom service and hospitality to food and comfort. Sadly, I do not believe it was worth the money spent. I hope the management at the Thoraipakkam branch takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the overall...
ย ย ย Read moreFeedback for OMR Barbeque Nation, Thoraipakkam I would like to share my experience at OMR Barbeque Nation, Thoraipakkam, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. Lack of Proper Welcome: Upon arrival, there was no proper greeting or welcome from the staff. It felt unprofessional and uninviting right from the entrance. Confusion in Pricing: While making the booking, I was clearly informed that the cost would be โน900 per person including tax. However, after dining, the final bill mentioned โน900 plus tax, which was not communicated properly in advance. I had called three times before the visit to confirm the price, but still, this discrepancy occurred. Uncooked Food: The chicken leg pieces served were not properly cooked. Although the outside appeared cooked, the inside was still raw. I brought this to the staffโs attention multiple times and returned the dish on five separate occasions. Unfortunately, even after repeated complaints, the issue remained unresolved. Inadequate Seating Arrangement: We were a group of more than 15 members and had specifically requested a single large table to accommodate everyone. However, we were provided only 4 small 4-seater tables, which made the group feel scattered and disconnected. Air Conditioning Issue: The air conditioning inside the restaurant was not functioning effectively. I raised this concern several times and requested that the AC temperature be lowered as the space felt suffocating. Despite multiple complaints, no action was taken, and I was sweating throughout the meal. It was extremely uncomfortable. Overall Impression: This experience did not meet the standards I expected from a reputed brand like Barbeque Nation. From poor service and miscommunication to food quality and discomfort, the entire outing felt like a waste of money. I do not find it worth recommending or revisiting the OMR Barbeque Nation,...
ย ย ย Read moreBBQ nation is one of the popular BBQ restaurant in Chennai. I have been to their t.nagar branch few years back and it was excellent experience. After that now only got opportunity to go since it was our team lunch. This place is easy to locate. Just opposite to Sangeetha restaurant in thoraipakkam.
No dedicated parking lot which I didn't expect over here. Actually I was expecting valet parking ๐. But no need to worry, we can manage in service road. Ambiance is simple and decent. Much smaller than t.nagar. Seating is comfortable. Table reservation is mandatory.
We 23 people were seated in 4 nearby tables. Refer Pic attached for elaborate menu during our visit. I would just say all 3 starters viz Cajun spice Potato ๐ฅ , Crispy corn ๐ฝ and Kebab are excellent. In grill, mushroom ๐ tops the list. Pineapple ๐ is decent while panner could have been softer and better. Mint chutney accompanied well for grills and starters.
Salads ๐ฅ are decent. Dahi vadai was hard, didn't went well. Methi pulao was good. Gravies which we tried and dal are also good. In chat tried bhel, Dahi Poori and Chenna masala. Bhel is not that fresh and Dahi Poori is too sweetish. Sundal / Chenna masala was excellent.
Dessert I had is decent. Live kulfi counter is good option but tastewise it didn't excite much. Pricing is reasonable though the menu got crispier over period.
Service needs improvement. They were slow. Need to wait for almost everything. No briefing, need to ask for spoons, plates etc. The coal they keep in table are not consistent across table. For us it is not sufficient since it doesn't keep grills warm, while in another table it is too hot. All grills are kept in same direction which making people sit in other side of the table difficult to reach when coal in middle is hotter. If it is sorted out they will deserve 5...
