Food Alert: Where : Mirchi Cuisine , Thoraipakkam ,OMR What : Andhra style biriyani 🔥
My craving for biriyani never ends. The exploration for biriyani is a vast plot and yeah I reckon only 1% of biriyani I have tried. Wanted to try some Andhra style biriyani since I like the way they layer the biriyani. Oru layer la flavourful rice and other is Masala Mixture. So decided to try one of the famous spots. Mirchi Cuisine is the one I choosed for. This is one of the old popular Andhra cuisine spot recommended by my fellow IT people. Located in thoraipakkam OMR. Have seen people waiting outside before covid days during peak lunch hours. Seri poyi dhan papom nu kelambiyachu. This one now available only for take away and limited menu in food apps. Our Orders: Mutton Biriyani ( 279 INR): Firstly I would like to speak about the rice. Perfectly long grained rice with full of flavours. The Andhra style / hydrabadi style biriyani’s main is the flavour of the rice. The rice was colourful and the saffron water they used to sprinkle on the water elevated the taste to vereh level.
Coming to the mutton Biriyani. Mutton the Thalaivan of all biriyani will be best in every form. The masala mixture was perfectly spicy and the meat was wow. Big size 3 pieces and the meat was super tendor. WOW factor. The meat fell of the bones consistency was the key. Juicy and yes the well blended with the masala
Chicken Biriyani (199 INR): This was also a stealer . Andha masala irukeh 🤤 . Chicken pieces where huge and the taste was awesome. Oru leg piece inoonu big piece (Chicken Cake). A perfect chicken biriyani. The masala was suttle and taste great.
Fire Biriyani ( 239 INR): The name changer. Andhra foods is always for the spicy nature and this was one of it. Boneless chicken with extra masala tossed and perfectly dum biriyani. The biriyani was spicy and yeah justified the name
Andhra Chicken 65(205 INR): I always love the way they make the Andhra style 65. Tossed with more masala will end the taste vereh level. Perfectly spiced and soft pieces.
Biriyani’s come with usual mirchi ka salan and raitha. I love the raitha very much in Andhra hotels cuz it will be made up of buttermilk rather than usual curd which gives some sour taste to it which will get over with the biriyani very well.
Overall a spot to be tried if your craving for Andhra biriyani for sure Namakku tharamana Biriyani...

Chicken Lollipop was wonderful. Unlike the too saucy and sweet versions in some Chinese restaurants, this was tasty.

Andhra Chilli Chicken was yummy! Distinctly different from the lollipop not just in form factor, but taste-wise too. Again, clearly holding its Andhra-ish touch, and not overly Chinese with the mention of ‘Andhra’ just for namesake.

Overall, starters were a hit! Every single dish was awesome! Portions seemed quite good too. The Thanjavur Nannaari Sarbath complimented it very well and was refreshing!

For the main course, we ordered one Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani and one Fired Boneless Chicken Biryani for the three of us. The former is typically the ‘regular’ chicken biryani, and the latter is the one with boneless chicken 65 pieces in Biryani, albeit an Andhra-ish Chicken 65 though.
Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani was good, the chicken piece in it was soft and well-cooked. The spice levels were apt for my palate and I enjoyed it. The Biryani was certainly not one of the ‘out of the world’ types, but tasted pretty good. The Saalan and Raita were good accompaniments to the Biryani.

Fired Boneless Chicken Biryani was slightly different compared to the Dum Biryani rice, a little subtle in flavor, I felt. I somehow liked the former better. Needless to say, the boneless chicken 65 pieces in the biryani, tasted wonderful.
I did taste a little rice from the Mutton Biryani too, was exactly like the Chicken Dum Biryani, I liked it. Couldn’t click a picture of it with pieces. The long-grained Basmati rice was just rightly cooked and I loved the perfection in consistency.

Was hoping to see some typical Desserts like Double ka Meetha, Qubani ka Meetha on the menu, but they only had Gulab Jamun , so ordered just two of that. It was good, not wow. Could have been a bit softer and the syrup a little less sweet. Later on realized that we weren’t billed for the desserts.

Here’s a quick summary of our order. Chicken Mayonnaise Chicken Lollipop Andhra Chilli Chicken Thanjavur Sarbath Biryani Gulab Jamun
Overall, good company, good food and good conversations, enjoyed the lunch. The total bill was a little less than 1.7K, our friend paid it. I’d certainly keep this place in mind if I am looking to dine in and around Thuraipakkam and gladly...
Read moreFrankly to speak I was disappointed after tasting the food. It might be due to my expectations which were built basing on the reviews. There were three issues, First the taste of the food, it was pretty average at the best, I mean we had tried most of their starters and we felt none of them had any distinctive taste which would justify the name that was given to them other than than the tandoor items. The paneer in chilly paneer was very sour. The biryani was good but didn't have that extra oomph that we have come to associate with the Hyderabadi biryani. The Indian breads tasted great though. The deserts offered were minimum apart from the usual icecreams, the sweet options were quite limited and they too didn't taste great. The second and third issues are inter related and they are pricing and quantity, I mean i understand it's a bistro and usually these places tend to be pricey but the quantity offered especially with the starters is unacceptable. I mean we are a bunch of people who have an average appetite but still ended up ordering 16 plates of starters along with some 6 biryanis and 4 plates of various Indian breads. Do the math. This coupled with the price didn't completely agree with us. The ambience was pretty good and the staff were courteous. Hope these issues would...
