Cake Mall — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

I had attended baking class recently few weels before in cake mall which I personally feel waste of time and money.

They promise lot of things during registration but they actually don't do it... I feel it's waste of money... it's not worth for 4200 for a class which happened from 10 am to 3pm including one hour lunch break...

Pros: They have two locations with in Chennai to teach They take class during weekends

Cons: They said the session will be from 10 to 6 which didn't happen so we didn't have time to learn piping or frosting

I purposefully wanted to learn convection oven as i have only that . They promised me that they will teach in convection oven and cooker too but when i entered the class I couldn't see any of these and I got an answer that they don't even have these and they can teach only in otg.. which was again a false promise.

In the description of the class details they mention that they will teach different types frosting and piping and how to use.. but which was not covered at all...

They said they will add us to a WhatsApp group where we can ask them doubts about the baking but didn't happen till date. Yes are added to the WhatsApp group where you can only doubts from the participants and we don't get any answer for that from the tutors ...

They didn't stop any where to check whether we understood or we have any doubts... they were busy in moving to the next session

They said it will be hands on session but NO it was not a hands on session . We had to share our things with an other participant. Either one of them will be doing and one has to watch them. Therefore again it's a false promise of completely hands on session.

Since I was so excited to learn baking I didn't do much review studying on this place... but now I feel for this.So personal advice is that make sure you choose a proper place when you spend too much.

I will never ever recommend this place for my friends or family .

Very Good place if you are a beginner as the course starts from basics of baking. They start teaching from measurement techniques and the one day workshop was pretty good overall. The best advantage is hands on experience which they provide and I think this makes them stand apart from other centres.

They provide lunch which is average but no complaints.

I visited both of their centres and Velachery is pretty big and very well designed. The Nungambakkam seems to be small but it is in the heart of city. However I am a visual personal and I choose Velachery.

The Chef and her assistant were very good. The chef was extremely knowledgeable and most important was very passionate on baking. The output was awesome and all products came out beyond my expectations.

Looks like they do not have backup and if the power goes, we have no option but to wait. It did scare me as there was power outage for 10 Minutes. Luckily nothing happened and power came back.

The address was quite confusing as the board was outside the visible range. They asked me to look upwards as the board was fixed in the third floor. They should place the sign board within the visible range.

Extensive area for car parking which is pretty awesome as finding a car park would be nightmare elsewhere.

Considering few negligible hiccups, I would strongly recommend Cake Mall as you can kick start your baking...

Three of us did the 1-day course titled Advanced Baking & Fondant.

Pros: The Instructor, a non-professional young girl, seemed to know some baking basics well, and was very patient in her teaching.

Cons: Very poor hygiene, insufficient and dirty dish cloths, dirty wipe cloths, and the floor essentially blackened our bare feet. Location - This is basically a very very small 1-bedroom apartment that is being used as a training center. Dishes - The sink is a tiny corner sink in a small kitchen and students are expected to clean the mixing bowls between different cakes. While the washing may be acceptable, though unnecessary since there were many bowls available, the location of the sink is soo ghastly that one develops severe backache after just a single round. This issue single-handedly led to at least one student sitting out most of the class Not one person in the organization seemed to be concerned about student experience though there were multiple chase-ups during payments. The roster of dishes promised n the website and the ones done were different, and we just went with whatever they decided on the day.

Recommendation Try some other centre, perhaps you will fare better. For 3.5K, we got a day of fun and some great goodies. But if you are looking for serious classes,...
