With its long-standing presence and popularity, this food joint serves good food and provides satisfactory service.
The combination of paya with aappam is a highlight.
While the ambiance may lack the finesse of other restaurants, the overall dining experience is worthwhile, with all items available until 11 pm, making it a budget-friendly choice in and around Royapettah.
Cleanliness to take care and not upto mark
Decently visited ✨️ After watching the Coolie movie at Devi Cinemas, we decided to dine at a hotel near Mount Road. We arrived at Hotel Safari in Royapettah around 11 pm and were pleased to find a respectable crowd.
Our meal consisted of
parotta...Rs.19 mushroom gravy...Rs.171 veg fried rice, ...Rs.143 chicken noodles.....180 finger fish......Rs.380 prawn manchurian semi-gravy....Rs.285
All dishes were satisfactory, well-prepared, and served quickly.
The finger fish was outstanding, crispy, and hot. The mushroom gravy was well-blended and had a good consistency, surpassing our expectations for a vegetarian dish at this hotel.
Our overall experience was positive, and we observed that the hotel is open until 12 midnight, with extended hours until 2 am during festivals.
Unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to try the mutton paya with iddiyappam, a popular combination.
Hotel Safari has a long-standing reputation and is well-established in Royapettah, likely familiar to many. I am sharing this experience to reminisce about old memories. A few...

Read moreA vintage hotel in the busy roads of Royapettah. Was planning to visit this hotel for a long time and accomplished in the recent chennai trip. Went for breakfast with a foodie friend. No modern interiors, no attractive chairs, tables. They are maintaining the same old look. I personally love these kind of hotels in their traditional look.
Took a family cabin and ordered their famous Parotta, Aattukal Paya for first round. Then Mutton chops, egg aappam and another round of paya.
Paya went well with parotta and it was divine. Mutton chops was delicious with well cooked meat and it was juicy. Waiting for the next trip to try their evening and dinner options.
A must visit for breakfast especially for...
