McRennett Cakes — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

The guy at the cash counter is extremely rude and arrogant. I ordered 4 cream cakes and 2 apple cakes. He tried to stuff all of them in a single box. I told him I want the apple cakes packed separately. He was then about to put the apple cakes into a paper bag. I told him to put them into a cartoon box for which he started grumbling but I ignored it. In the meantime, a couple of women entered the shop and started harassing me for some kind of donation. In spite of me telling them repeatedly that i don't want to give any donation, they refused to leave and were forcefully demanding money. When i told the cashier, instead of telling them to leave, he spoke to me rudely telling me that it was not his concern and I should handle it myself. He even went to the extent of calling me stingy. If it happens somewhere on the road, it may not be his concern. But if these people enter the shop and harass customers, is it not the responsibility of the shop management to ensure that they leave their premises? Mc Rennett should ensure that they don't hire such arrogant and mannerless peope. They give bad name...

Last week, I visited MC Rennett bakery, and my experience was average. The selection of cakes and puffs was limited, lacking unique or seasonal items. While the prices were reasonable, I found it off-putting that they charged extra for carry bags.

The cozy ambiance and friendly staff were highlights, but the treats didn’t impress. The puffs were flaky but bland, and the cake, though moist, didn’t stand out. Overall, MC Rennett has potential but needs to elevate its offerings to attract more customers. For now, it’s a decent option but not a must-visit.

Shop is at good location, just few steps from the main road. McRennet is one of the famous chain of bakeries in Chennai for a long time. But, couldn't finish the panneer puff and had the veg puff just to finish it, as the taste buds couldn't put up with it. It was the last piece by evening around 7pm when visited for a quick bite. They don't offer Tea/coffee. Looks like a revamp would be essential to keep up with the front line in the current tight competition as it used to do...
