This park is known to me for 40 yrs. Both, before and after it's present face lift, in the recent 20 years.
It's a wonderful park in the vicinity of Pondy Bazar and GN chetty road. It's a classical example of a park maintained by a PPP(Public Private Partnership) model.
It has its own I built facilities for play, exercise, yoga, jogging, walking tracks!
It has a writing board, to display notices of the happenings in the park, day to day. It carries nice quotes for people to ponder, on their walks.
It has a well-like spot, akin to a Parliament, at the heart of the park, where there's a Ganesha temple.
To worship and have daily, weekly, occasional, Festivals there! It's a great retreat for elders, living in and around this Park. To come and have a great day.
The routines in the evening are very same like the day and people can sit and relax, meditate and do yoga and pranayama. A yoga teacher comes too, to instruct. A small laughing session is the silver lining of the park.
Last but not the least, is the eating joint, functioning from its next door! Geetham, restaurant, a feanchisee of the Sangeetha group!
It has a great menu of morning breakfast and evening snacks and lovable coffee for the coffee, lovers. It plucks in a few good number of visitors to the park. So that it blesseth him that gives and him that takes.
It used to offer a tiffin platter of one mini vada, one mini dosa, one iddly, one sweet kuzhi appam. All this only for rupees 50/-
The park has a Vegetable Vendor selling fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, and greens right at its entrance, monday through Saturday. For house wives to have hand picking facility while buying the vegetables. It comes in handy for them to procure the day's requirement to get started with their cooking , after a wash when they return home.
On the whole, it is a wholesome experience to visit this park, if you have the good fortune to happen to live around this place. Even, if you don't, it's still worth everyone's while, to visit this park with your better half, to have a morning walk and a lovely filling breakfast / evening stroll and snacks at Geetham, Sangeetha!
I know, you are tempted to be there and experience all that, first hand. I will be only too glad for you, if you did that. Don't forget to think of me, when...
Read moreJeeva Park, located at 3/2, Arul Ammal Street, T. Nagar, Chennai, is a peaceful oasis amidst the bustling city. It serves as a favorite spot for morning walkers, joggers, and families looking to relax in a green environment. The park is well-maintained, with clean pathways, neatly trimmed lawns, and a variety of trees that provide shade, making it a perfect spot for those seeking tranquility.
One of the park's highlights is its walking track, which attracts fitness enthusiasts from the surrounding areas. The track is well-paved and wide enough to accommodate walkers and joggers, even during peak hours. Additionally, there are benches placed along the path for those who want to take a break and enjoy the serene surroundings.
For children, there is a designated play area equipped with swings, slides, and other basic play equipment, making it a family-friendly spot. The greenery, along with the occasional chirping of birds, adds to the park's calm atmosphere, making it an ideal place to unwind.
However, the park could benefit from a few more amenities, such as additional seating and public restrooms, especially during busy evenings. Also, parking in the area can be a bit of a challenge during peak hours.
