Instead of the usual beachside stalls, I walked across the road to Museum Café, which is located at the intersection of VP Raman Road and Marina Beach Road, near to the Vivekananda House. The café is on the first floor of the State Commissionerate for the Differently Abled. While there seems to be a lift and wheelchair access, I took the stairs, so I didn’t check the lift (sorry!). The building has ample parking space for both cars and scooters.
The café is spacious, air-conditioned, and offers a pleasant view facing Marina Beach on the east side. It can comfortably seat around 40 to 50 people. When I went around 5:30 PM, there were two staff members and about ten guests seated in a circle – it seemed like a local group having a discussion.
The café is run by the Hot Breads “Winners” group and is part of an initiative to train and empower people with disabilities. The lime juice was freshly squeezed, just salt and a little sugar – nothing else. The pizza was soft inside, with crispy edges – just the way I like it. The staff were friendly and the...

Read moreThe service was really slow... We did expect a rather slow service than the usual that we get in other restaurants but this was very very slow. They forgot to add an item in our order. They were flustered and tensed. The only saving grace was Aditya. Aditya was very professional welcoming courteous polite and also enjoyed conversing with us. If you happen to drop in remember to strike up a conversation with Aditya. He is lovely. Overall it was a good experience. Can go there if you are not really hungry and have all the...
