Instead of the usual beachside stalls, I walked across the road to Museum Café, which is located at the intersection of VP Raman Road and Marina Beach Road, near to the Vivekananda House. The café is on the first floor of the State Commissionerate for the Differently Abled. While there seems to be a lift and wheelchair access, I took the stairs, so I didn’t check the lift (sorry!). The building has ample parking space for both cars and scooters.

The café is spacious, air-conditioned, and offers a pleasant view facing Marina Beach on the east side. It can comfortably seat around 40 to 50 people. When I went around 5:30 PM, there were two staff members and about ten guests seated in a circle – it seemed like a local group having a discussion.

The café is run by the Hot Breads “Winners” group and is part of an initiative to train and empower people with disabilities. Hats off to the Tamil Nadu government and the partnering organisations for making this happen. These efforts help integrate marginalised communities into everyday society and make us view them not as separate, but as part of us.

I ordered a lime juice (₹50) and a Veg Fantasy Pizza (₹159). The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the location and setup. While the Marina beachside pushcarts offer a wide range of snacks, I find their hygiene to be hit or miss. Here, you get a clean environment, AC comfort, and good food quality.

It took about 15 minutes for my order, as they oven-baked the pizza fresh from their prepared dough, not preheated or microwaved. The lime juice was freshly squeezed, just salt and a little sugar – nothing else. The pizza was soft inside, with crispy edges – just the way I like it. The staff were friendly and the...

So the speciality of the museum cafe is that the food is prepared by specially abled persons and co assisted by the normal. The food is good and the ambience is so great as it is located near the beach it is so good and you will get a cool Breeze continuously. It is a good initiative that is made by the government along with the collaboration of winners bakery. I ordered cold coffee it was so good and I have attached the menu as well in my review. You could see the museum below it is so beautiful and you can get to know a lot about specially abled people and their constraints and different technologies that are...

The service was really slow... We did expect a rather slow service than the usual that we get in other restaurants but this was very very slow. They forgot to add an item in our order. They were flustered and tensed. The only saving grace was Aditya. Aditya was very professional welcoming courteous polite and also enjoyed conversing with us. If you happen to drop in remember to strike up a conversation with Aditya. He is lovely. Overall it was a good experience. Can go there if you are not really hungry and have all the...
