After reading a lot about this restaurant on trip advisor, decided to visit this place on my last day at tanjavore. Order : garlic naan, paneer butter Masala, parota curry, paneer pulao, onion dosa, coffee The garlic naan (1) and paneer butter Masala (2 small bowls) were part of a combo meal; the garlic naan had small pieces of garlic embedded which was different from the regular variant where small pieces of garlic are spread on the bread; the large pieces had a slightly more over powering effect which was not to my liking. The paneer butter Masala was good though, although a bit more on the 'Masala side'. Overall I would recommend the plain naan combo. The onion dosa served with 4 kinds of chutney and sambar was good; lots of onion and specially made authentic chutney including mint and coconut. The paneer pulao was slightly sweet , with generous serving of paneer. A quality dish To finish off, parota curry (2 coin parotas) served with Channa curry and sagu; not too heavy and just enough to fill the remaining space in the belly.

One of the best veg meals I had recently. I was on a road trip with my friends and we reached Thanjavur to visit the temple. I searched for best veg restaurant and found this. The place was fully crowded and gave us an indication that food will be good. We got a table after waiting for 10 mins. First we ordered one Pot Dum Parotta as we saw a lot of people ordered it. It was prepared using multiple parottas layered with some veg gravy in a clay pot and cooked in a tandoori. It tasted ok, but we didn’t eat much as we wanted to try their famous Divyam meal. In this meal, first we got one chilled mint drink and one soup. Both were amazing. Then they served the meal in a big plate which had almost 20 bowls with various dishes. They served one roti, papad and unlimited rice. It tasted so well, but none of us were able to complete all the dishes. They charged Rs.360 each for this meal which was ok for the quality, taste and the ambience.

This is a more than 100 year old Hotel located in Thanjavur right on the main road within 1km from the Big Temple. If you are staying in Thanjavur you can go to this place for Lunch , dinner and breakfast. The Ambience is calm and service is quick. If you are going in the evening do go to the old service place which has an antique appearance. They also have a huge range of sweets and savouries. Food here is homely, simple , delicious and touches your soul. Do try their Elneer halwa made of tender coconut pulp is awesome. Give it a try. Stewards here are courteous and tend to your needs. They have a clean washroom and clean hand wash area.

Five stars for service--Mr. Rajagopalan's attention towards us and his suggestions were excellent--top grade customer service. Apparently he suggested that idly festival was going on and we went with his suggestions, though we had some other food in mind. Garlic Podi idly, Idly fry, and coffee were heavenly. Five stars to chef. There was some billing error, which was attended to by Mr. Rajagopalan promptly. I strongly suggest if you are at Thanjavur do not forget to eat at this restaurant. The only downside is that there is no car parking at this restaurant. But you can walk few hundred yards, as there is one paid car parking nearby.

We recently had a delightful dinner at Ariya Bhavan, and it was an experience worth sharing. Starting with the Virudhunagar Parota, it was perfectly flaky and soaked in a flavorful gravy, making it a rich and indulgent dish. For those looking for something lighter, the Santhagi is a great option – soft and comforting, just right for a light meal. However, the highlight of the evening was the Podi Idly, which was top-notch with its balanced spice and texture. To end on a sweet note, the Elaneer Payasam was refreshing and the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. If you're in the area, Ariya Bhavan is definitely worth a visit!

After a long morning walking around at the Unesco Heritage Site, we stumbled upon this place. Although famous for their sweets, the place was packed. With a separate section for Aircon and non aircon seatings. The staff is unlike anyplace we have been to extremely friendly and hospitable. We googled special sweet Thanjavur is famous for and we tried the Chandrakala. It was not too sweet, tasted like a baklava. We ordered their normal thali and their Thanjavur special thali. The items on them was mind-blowing, but out of everything, you have got to try their coriander black pepper soup. Amazingly slurplicious.
