⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ A memorable veg dining experience with great taste, atmosphere & service!
We recently visited Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan, Tambaram for a relaxed veg dinner, and overall it was a satisfying experience, though prices are on the higher side.
✅ What we tried:
Broccoli Cheddar Soup (Half - ₹185): Not listed in the menu, but surprisingly very good! Creamy, fresh, and perfect to start the meal.
Gobi 65 (₹235): Absolutely crispy, perfectly fried, juicy and flavourful — one of the best Gobi 65s I’ve had in a long time!
Four Seasons Pizza (Regular - ₹215): Cheesy and tasty with a good balance of toppings. Ideal if you want a break from typical South Indian items.
Naan Varieties:
Garlic Naan (₹85): Super soft, garlicky and delicious — best of the lot.
Kashmiri Naan (₹105): Sweet and good to balance spicy gravies.
Butter Naan (₹85): Decent but not as soft as garlic naan; could be improved.
Palak Paneer (₹335): Gravy taste was excellent and paneer was fresh, but portion size was slightly less for the price when compared to places like A2B.
Plain Dosa (₹105): Crispy and served with good sambar & three tasty chutneys — can’t go wrong with this classic.
Exotic Strawberry Cake (~₹235): A sweet ending! Soft, fresh and delicious with a real strawberry flavour — a must-try for dessert lovers.
✅ Service: Special mention to Keerthi — the service was polite, quick and attentive. Everything arrived on time and she ensured we were comfortable throughout.
✅ Ambience: The atmosphere was clean, spacious and perfect for a family dinner or small celebration. It feels premium for a pure veg restaurant.
✅ Price: Yes, the prices are on the higher side — but for the taste, quality, ambience and service, it’s definitely worth it once in a while, especially for special occasions.
Overall: If you’re looking for a satisfying vegetarian meal in Tambaram with a mix of Indian and continental options, Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan is a safe bet. Delicious food, good service and pleasant atmosphere — just be ready for a premium bill.
Would recommend: Broccoli Cheddar Soup, Gobi 65, Garlic Naan, Palak Paneer & Strawberry Cake!
✔️ Verdict: One of the better veg dine-in places in Tambaram.

Read moreI had a chance to dine in Vasantha Bhavan , near Tambaram Post Office 🏤 & Tambaram Bus 🚌 stand . It is just opposite to Tambaram Railway 🛤 junction . So it is strategically located bang on GST Road very near to Bus 🚌 stand & Railway 🛤 junction. I learnt that on week days it is easier to find vacant seats 💺 🪑 , but on weekends finding comfortable vacant seats are somewhat difficult.
The atmosphere is tantalizing & the reception very good. I found a comfortable seat & had a poori set comprising 3 pieces & a filter coffee ☕️. It cost me Rs .176 ( inclusive of a GST of Rs.8.40 ) . Food & coffee ok 👍. The background music played is very soothing & it plays an important role in making the dining experience , wonderful .
I , had a lively conversation with the captain who attended me . The man who takes orders from you is called respectfully as captain . Those who execute the orders are waiters . I ascertained from him that there is another similar section upstairs. The Captains & Waiters are being provided with free accommodation & food with a sizeable monthly salary of Rs .20000 ( as per the captain's statement ) . Good ,isn't it ?
There is separate restrooms 🚻 for males & females & are neatly maintained. Seating 💺 💺 arrangements for dining are good . There is ample parking space for 2 & 4 wheelers. There are separate kitchens for South Indian🇮🇳 North Indian 🇮🇳 & Chinese cuisines. Meals are being served during noon .
The Restaurant states that outdoor seating💺 & All you can eat ( a facility where after paying a fixed amount per person you can have all you like ) facilities are there .
Wheel chair ♿️ accessible.
Today ,I , preferred a parcel consisting of a Pongal , a Meduvadai & a Rava Dosai & it cost me Rs 315 . Somewhat costly . For parcels , we have to enter the Hotel premises , pay the amount for it & should come out of the premises & wait outside . There street dogs loom large giving you a creepy feeling . Instead arrangements for people waiting for parcels should be made within...

Podi idli for mom Soft idlies sprinkled with medium spicy podi mixed with oil & ghee. Side dishes were coriander pudhina chutney, tomato, onion spicy chutney & coconut chutney. Sambar came in separate foil cover. On the whole, it was a good combination and the taste will surely stay in your mind for sometime. Perfect dinner!
Very nice serene atmosphere. Food was really amazing and they really care about you if you are having ulcer Or gut sensitive. Mr. Rajendran who served me was really friendly and asked the chef to put less spice in my orders. He even kept asking how the food is. He explains well about how every dish tastes. Very nice service and i will be visiting again and again. Felt content. It's been long since I last visited vasanta bhavan. They have really improved and they have introduced unique dishes. Must try. So coming back to what I ordered.
Kathal briyani.... Yummy jackfruit briyani with no overwhelming spices. Jackfruit tasted like mutton. It was well cooked. I would recommend this dish and it doesn't hurt stomach.
Jeera rice... It tasted calm and like fried rice. No spices but good aroma. I thought let's eat jeera rice alone. But with it I tried dhal fry.
Dhal fry... The captain told it won't be spicy but was scared to see red chilles and gree chillies(chopped). But it wasn't spicy at all and was really good.
Farmhouse pizza for take away... The crust was thin and pizza was yummy with gooey cheese. The veggies were crunchy. Overall I felt content that I ate well. Thank...
