We recently visited Soul of South for lunch and were greeted with a warm welcome, which set a positive tone for our dining experience. Whether it was due to the rush or their general practice, the welcome was appreciated.
The ambience was excellentâpleasant and inviting, creating a comfortable atmosphere for dining.
Food Experience:
Starters: We ordered Kakinada Royala Vepudu, which was the highlight of our meal. The prawns were soft, well-marinated, and fried to perfection with flavorful spices. Angara Sholay Kebab was decent, with properly cooked and tender chicken.
Main Course: Fry Piece Biryani was delicious, with mild spices and a rich taste that stood out.
Dessert: The Vennala Ice Cream, priced at âš149, was disappointing. It consisted of two small scoops with no proper toppings, which felt underwhelming for the cost.
Service: The service was good overall, though the food took 20-25 minutes to arrive. One concerning aspect was the handling of the service charge. The restaurant charges a 10% service fee, which we requested to be removed as we preferred to tip based on our experience. While the charge was removed, the waiterâs ( As per Bill his name is Jyothi Prakash) response and behavior afterward were unprofessional. He handed us the bill recklessly and left abruptly. Even though we left a âš50 tip, it was not acknowledged, which was disappointing.
Suggestion to the Restaurant: Tipping should be at the customerâs discretion and based on their experience with the food and service. Making it feel mandatory, especially when prices are already on the higher side, can leave a negative impression.
Overall: Apart from the service charge incident, it was a good dining experience with great food and an excellent...
Read morePopped into Soul of South for a meal with friends, and hereâs the lowdown. We kicked things off with Mutton Paya soup, which was a total hitâspicy, flavorful, and just what we needed to warm up.
For starters, we went all in with Ulavacharu chicken wings, Mutton Ghee roast, loose prawns, and Korrameenu Chepa vepudu. The chicken wings and loose prawns were solidâtasty and well-executed. The Mutton Ghee roast was a bit of a mixed bag; some pieces were perfectly cooked and delicious, but others were tough to chew. Still, the flavor was on point. Now, the Korrameenu Chepa vepudu was a major letdown. It was loaded with bones, completely blandâno spice, no salt, nothing. It felt like they just fried the fish and called it a day. Easily the biggest miss of the night and something weâd say skip entirely.
For the main course, we ordered Mutton Veta Mamsam biryani and Special chicken biryani. Both were more like pulaos than traditional biryanis, but honestly, they tasted great, so no complaints there.
Dessert was the Malai Custard Delight, and it was a nice, creamy finish to the mealâdefinitely a crowd-pleaser.
The vibe at Soul of South is greatâgood ambience, clean washrooms, and valet parking (though they warned us itâs better to skip valet during peak hours). Prices are on the higher side, as youâd expect from the area, with the bill for four of us coming to about âš5000.
Overall, itâs a solid spot with some standout dishes, but that Korrameenu Chepa vepudu was a total disappointment and dragged things down a bit. Would we go back? Probably, but weâd steer clear of...

South Of Soul Bar and Kitchen is a true hidden gem for those who crave authentic South Indian flavors paired with a classy lounge experience. The ambiance is absolutely stunning â walking in feels like stepping into the grand court of a South Indian king, with rich cultural decor and a regal vibe that sets the tone perfectly.
I visited around 7 PM and was the first customer. Within a short time, the place started filling up â a clear sign of its growing popularity. I ordered a few cocktails along with Natu Kodi Vepudu (country chicken spicy fry), Thalassery Pepper Prawns, and Vitta Mamsam Vepudu (mutton fry). Each dish was bursting with flavor â bold, authentic, and perfectly spiced.
A special shoutout to Mr. MG, who went above and beyond with personalized suggestions based on my taste. He even customized both the food and cocktails to suit my preferences. His out-of-the-box whiskey-based cocktail was an absolute hit â creative, well-balanced, and easily one of the highlights of the evening.
While a few drinks from the menu werenât available, it didnât take away from the overall experience. For the quality, service, and atmosphere, itâs great value for money.
Highly recommended for food lovers and cocktail enthusiasts alike. Will definitely...
