I recently dropped by Gajanan Vada Pav Center in Thane West, located very conveniently near Thane Railway Station (west side), and had a delightful experience with this iconic street food gem.
First off, the vada pav itself is consistently crispy, generously stuffed, and perfectly balancedânot too spicyâmaking it enjoyable for all palates. The besan (gram-flour) yellow chutney with thecha is a standoutâthe unique flavor stays memorable long after youâre done. Locals clearly love itâoften choosing to parcel the chutney home!
This joint has earned its reputation over 50+ years in service, and it shows. The vada pav is not just deliciousâitâs a staple in the area and a true value-for-money treat. Prices are wallet-friendly (~âš150â200 for two), making it an ideal quick bite.

Read moreA unique taste of vada pav in Thane. Vada pav is the most favoured food of mumbaikar. Literally on every turn you can find one Vada pav stall. Each has their own unique elements. Which makes it run in the race. Gajana vada pav has a franchise. I have been eating for a long time, probably more than a decade. They have their own unique element added to their vada pav. The hot vada with their different chutney is a delicious course. A simple combination of 3 things Vada pav and chutney makes it a yummy blend. Chutney has a besan base. Along with a green chutney. It's a treat for the tummy. They also have Samosa (2 types differ with the inner stuffing), bread pakoda, Potato and onion pakoda. I prefer all of these hot. The rates are reasonable.
