Katsu Katta, nestled conveniently in front of the CIDCO bus stop at Thane Station East, offers a tantalizing fusion of Japanese and Maharashtrian flavors. While the concept of Chicken Katsu—a Japanese delicacy comprising fried chicken coated in panko breadcrumbs—is at the heart of Katsu Katta's menu, the infusion of Maharashtrian spices adds a delightful twist. The modest setup provides a no-frills dining experience, with space for only two standing patrons at a time. Yet, the friendly staff compensates for the lack of seating, adding a warm touch to the dining experience.
However, the issue of cleanliness and hygiene detracts from the overall appeal. While the rates are reasonably high for the quantity , the compromised hygiene standards may give pause to some potential customers. On the culinary front, the Cheese Crusted Chicken Tacos are a standout, boasting a perfect blend of flavors despite their humble presentation. Similarly, the Cheese Chicken Katsu, though slightly lacking in quantity for its price, impresses with its succulent chicken breast and generous sauce topping. One area for improvement lies in the storage of ingredients, particularly the lettuce, which, in my experience, lacked the desired crispness. Proper cold storage facilities could rectify this issue and enhance the overall freshness of the dishes. In conclusion, Katsu Katta offers a promising dining experience with its inventive fusion cuisine. However, addressing hygiene concerns and perhaps revisiting pricing strategies could further elevate its appeal. Despite these drawbacks, it's worth a visit for those craving a unique culinary adventure. Visitors are encouraged to share their feedback to help Katsu Katta refine its offerings and service.

Read moreKatsu Katta offers the ideal foods to drive away hunger blues. I visited this humble establishment on my way to Thane station, and was surprised to discover its array of delicacies.
My sister and I ordered half peri peri veg tacos, chipotle paneer tacos and barbecue grilled paneer. As strict vegetarians we were hesitant at first, but were quickly comforted by the kitchen’s hygiene standards. The variety of vegetarian options, freshness of ingredients and unique fusion recipes made our experience deeply enjoyable. The portions were hearty, prices affordable and service speedy.
This local hideout invites people from all backgrounds. I saw school children share katsus with their parents, college friends chit-chat over tacos and cold drinks, and working professionals hurriedly pick up orders to catch trains in time. Most customers were regular patrons and their orders were already known by the staff.
Katsu Katta’s vibrant energy draws you in, but its warm and fuzzy preparations make you want to keep coming back. It is rare to find a place that builds community through experimental food.

Read moreKatsu Katta’s new location in Vasant Vihar is a welcome addition to the local food scene. With expanded seating on the first floor, to a bigger kitchen space, this outlet is a definite upgrade from their maiden outlet opposite Thane station.
We ordered their BBQ paneer tacos and peri peri veg tacos. Both preparations were at the sweet intersection of spice and salt. The fireworks of flavours started from the first bite, and continued long after the last morsel. Rarely have I eaten dishes so strong and explosive, leaving you wanting more.
We loved the combination of freshly chopped lettuce and tomatoes with the crunchy vegetable patty in the veg tacos. The sauces in the paneer tacos were exotic and the paneer was soft and crumbly.
The tiramisu was a decadent indulgence, prepared with mascarpone cheese and espresso. Just the right amount of sweetness to balance the fire from the tacos!
All portions were hearty and value for money. Loved the setup and food, definitely...
