Just been to this place and it poorly maintained, very clumsy, the kind of ambience they are trying to create with cane baskets and artificial flowers looks very unclean. The place itself it very unclean.
We ordered prawns and bombil fry for starters, very bland looks like they were never Marinated and only dipped in rava coating and fried.
Unfortunately we had already ordered 4 thalis along with starters itself
Same situation with the thalis too, none of the fish seems like they were marinated and food was very bland and nothing like malvani.
To my surprise a small caterpillar fell from the flower arrangement into my mom's thali, it's was replaced though.
Anyways I saw their Instagram page and decided to visit this place. Seems like it's only glorified.
@majgharthane let me get this straight... There is no AC , cooler was kept which kept blowing right in our face, the place inside is so conjested that it's impossible to have food while the cooler blows right in our face. Hence we choose to sit outside, if it's raining they was the sitting arrangement made outside????? Bcz it was breezy and did feel claustrophobic..... Also your server never served the food, he simply got the food and placed it right in front of us.....thalis were handed over to us and not even kept on the table..... When the caterpillar fell on surmai fry it did not even take him 5 mins to replace it,...... Seems like it was never replaced..... He took the fish and come back with in 5 mins.....right before the food was served the server came and sprayed some freshner under the table... And right after that he got the food..it was so weird to eat food while fragrance kept lingering while we ate food.....also people who came after us left with in 10 mins....now I know why left,......its certainly did not taste anything like malvani for sure... Prawn starters were fresh but the prawns in prawn masala or curry were very chewy like rubber..... Anyways it's big thumbs down for the food quality and the dirty ans unclean ambience.......if you don't want customers to sit outside and have food then you should not have sitting arrangement outside...... Bcz after all you are giving me the choice by have two different sitting arrangements..... There is bloody broom on top of those fake flower arrangement... Kachra..... I would have choosen to sit inside again but I did not since I was my my mother and grand mother who have difficulty in walking....... So its a thumbs down.... Very unclean and tacky..... NOTHING LIKE IT'S SHOWN ON...

Let's start with the service - the staff at Majghar Thane were incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of perfect. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm smiles and prompt seating. Throughout the meal, the staff checked in on me regularly, ensuring that I had everything I needed and answering any questions I had about the menu. Their professionalism and genuine care for their guests truly stood out.
Now let's talk about the seafood - it was absolutely outstanding! The Bombil fry, prawns fry, Pompret Thali, and Surmai Thali were all cooked to perfection. The seafood was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and each dish was expertly seasoned and prepared. The Bombil fry had a crispy exterior while still being tender on the inside, and the prawns fry were succulent and bursting with flavor. The Pompret Thali and Surmai Thali were both generous portions of perfectly cooked fish accompanied by a variety of delicious sides. Every bite was a true delight for the taste buds.
But what truly made my dining experience at Majghar Thane memorable was the host. The host was not only welcoming but also incredibly accommodating. They took the time to explain the different dishes on the menu and recommended some of their specialties. Their passion for their work was evident, as they ensured that every guest felt comfortable and satisfied throughout their visit. Read moreThis restaurant is in Waghbil/Kavesar area in Thane.
Visited this place yesterday for lunch. Opted for mutton thali. The gravy was nice and spicy however the meat was not of good quality and it was undercooked. Sol Kadhi was the only saving grace. But it was served chilled hence no way of finding out if it was freshly made.
This is a small restaurant. The place is cramped and it was stinking while I was there. They do have some space outside where few more guests could be accommodated in the evenings.
Apart from me there was one more customer in the restaurant. There was only one staff who was handling everything - taking orders, serving food, managing zomato/swiggy, phone calls etc. He was pretending to be super super busy.
This place calls itself a seafood and malvani restaurant. But the person whom they have employed is a hindi speaking north indian. While both the customers in the restaurant as well as those enquiring on phone were speaking with this person in marathi, this guy did not even make any attempt to reply in marathi and did not show any courtesy by saying that he doesn't know the language but simply continued to speak in hindi. After few minutes he started playing hindi songs keeping the volume very high.
I am sure that this hero is not aware that just like malvani is a type of cuisine belonging to Maharashtra, malvani also happens to be one of the languages belonging to and spoken widely in Maharashtra. The behaviour of this staff is certainly rude and objectionable. He needs to be made aware about the languages, food and culture of Maharashtra just as he needs to be told that he should wait for customers to finish their food before he starts clearing the plates on the table. I had to tell him that I was yet to finish my solkadhi as he had already started clearing the table.
While I was having my food this staff asked me , "aap kaha se aaye hain". I told him "main yahan ka nahi hoon, bahar se aaya hoon kaam ke...
