Ratnakokan — Restaurant in Thane

RatnaKokan is my new favorite restaurant. They serve amazing seafood.

Location (5/5): It is located around 15 mins away from Thane station. It's easily accessible by auto or car.

Ambience (5/5): The place is nostalgic. They have pictures of Kokan displayed on the walls. The triangular roof adds to the beauty.

Service (5/5): The service at this place was pretty fast. And they served fresh fish & crabs. The size & quantity of the fish was amazing as compared to the cost of the dish.

Food(5/5): I had the best Crab Tandoor at this place. I was impressed with the Masalas they use. Even the prawns were nicely prepared & presented.

▪️ Drinks

Pana(Recommended): It's a popular drink usually served in summer, made out of raw mango. I was amazed to see that the restaurant has already started serving it.

Kokum Sarbat: It was light, fragrant & tasty.

Sol Kadhi(Must try): It's my favorite drink. And I loved how they kept it simple. The use of real Kokum was evident in the drink.

▪️ Appetizers

Crab Tandoor(Recommended): Crabs. And Tandoor. Nothing can go wrong with this combination. Crab was coated with a delicious marinade which tasted like Peri Peri. It was fun removing the crabs shell & having it.

Pomfret Fry: The fish was well marinated with spices (rawa coating) and perfectly cooked. It was medium in size and worth every penny.

Prawns koliwada(Must try): Perfectly cleaned & cooked prawns, coated with spicy Masalas. This was hands down my favorite dish.

Kothimbir Wadi: It's a beautiful Wadi(rectangular pieces) made from Corriander and flour. If you haven't tried it yet, go for it.

▪️Main Course

Chicken Thali (Recommended): The best part of the Thali was that I got four big Mutton Wade(A special flour is used to make these) with the chicken. Apart from that, quantity of chicken was huge.

Prawns thali: Prawns curry, along with fried rawa coated prawns, thecha & bhakri. It was delicious.

Overall (5/5): I am a big fan of Seafood & have tried seafood at different places in Mumbai. This place definitely lived up to my expectations. The seafood was fresh. The service was great. And the Crab Tandoor & Prawns Koliwada were so good, that I still...

Visited this place with friends today for lunch. Located right across from Sanskar Niketan School, Upvan, Thane (W), Hotel Ratna Kokan offers a truly delightful Konkan coastal food experience. On our recent visit, we tried a variety of dishes — both seafood and traditional thalis — and overall, the experience was very satisfying.

🍽️ What We Ordered:

Chi Lollypop – ₹295 A great starter to begin with. Crispy, flavorful, and well-marinated.

Bombil Fry (2 plates) – ₹580 A must-try! The bombil (Bombay duck) was fresh and perfectly fried with a crisp yet soft texture.

Khicha Papad (2 pieces) – ₹100 Crunchy and light, served as a nice side snack.

Solkadi (3 glasses) – ₹270 Absolutely refreshing. Balanced in flavor with a good hit of kokum and coconut. A perfect palate cleanser.

🐟 Thali Highlights:

Surmai Thali with Bhakri (3 servings) – ₹1590 The star of the meal. Thick slices of surmai (kingfish), cooked just right, served with fresh bhakri and classic sides.

Pomfret Thali with Bhakri – ₹550 Another seafood delight. The pomfret was meaty and fresh, a true representation of coastal cuisine.

Special Chicken Thali with Chapati – ₹470 Rich, spicy, and comforting. The chicken curry was homestyle and well-spiced.

Special Mutton Thali with Bhakri – ₹560 Hearty and robust. The mutton was tender, and the curry packed a punch — ideal for spice lovers.

The food at Ratna Kokan was flavorful and authentic, giving us a real taste of the Konkan coast. Portions were generous, pricing felt justified for the quality and variety, and service was prompt. Definitely a place to revisit if you're craving good seafood or traditional...

So we wanted to try a malvani/ konkani restaurant while in THANE ,so we came by Ratna konkan Hotel.

. . WE ORDERED: . STARTER: 1)Prawns fry 2)Malvani kebab and cheese kebab . [LARGE PRAWNS,could say it from the taste they were FRESHLY COOKED. The CHICKEN KEBAB served had a professional CHEF'S TASTE]

DRINKS: 1)Panna kairi [Nothing more refreshing than this Panna,it contained tulsi,Kari,was garnished well and kairi was been felt in every sip taken]

THALI: 1)Fish THALI: [Contained 3 DIFFERENT TYPES of curries and rice ,with bhakrisb,all tasting delicious]

2. Special Chicken Thali: [Contained 3 types of chicken with vade and biryani rice in ample quantity ] {QUANTITY: Ample QUALITY. :.As being a malvani on my own,it met all my expectations} DESERT: 1)GULAB JAMUN
3. KHARWAJ [It was a nice way to end our feast with sweet GULABJAMUNS and KHARWAJ,which tasted like made from a sweet shop]
