Experience on Ashtami during Durga Puja Lunch

This review is specifically for my experience on Ashtami during Durga Puja. I've had a few good experiences at this restaurant before, but this day was an exception.

Despite visiting in person two days before to book a table for two and confirming the booking over a call with the manager the previous day, we had to wait over an hour just to get a table. Once seated, we had to wait another hour for our food to arrive. The management was not following any bookings and seemed to be randomly allowing people to sit. They even insisted that we share a table with another couple, despite our request for a separate table. The entire process was a display of utter mismanagement, prioritizing the number of people over quality service.

When we finally got our table, it was unclean. For over 15-20 minutes, we sat amidst bits of food from the previous diners, despite repeated requests for cleaning. There were no napkins, no water—nothing on the table. Even after asking for napkins five or six times throughout our meal, we never received any.

As for the food, we ordered the largest thali, which arrived missing two or three items, yet we were charged the full price. They didn’t replace the missing items despite our request. We specifically asked for bhetki instead of hilsa, which they agreed to but served hilsa instead—unfortunately, it wasn’t fresh. Several other items tasted stale, with both the chicken and fish appearing frozen.

Overall, this was a disappointing experience for me and my girlfriend, who was visiting town for just a few days and was looking forward to lunch at this place after hearing good things. The poor reservation system, chaotic management, and focus on serving a large number of guests at the expense of quality made this visit particularly unpleasant. Experiences like this can damage a restaurant's reputation, especially among regular customers who might think twice before returning. It’s unfortunate to see such a place lose its charm due to bad management.

That being said, the servers and waiters were polite, but the management and reservation policies need serious...

Wow, what a fantastic dining experience! I recently visited Bangla Bhoj and was blown away by the trifecta of excellence: scrumptious food, warm hospitality, and stunning decoration. The cuisine was truly exceptional - every bite was a flavor sensation that left me craving more. The dishes were expertly crafted, with fresh ingredients and bold flavors that harmonized perfectly. The authentic Bengali dishes with their rich flavors and aromas were a true delight. But what truly made our visit special was the hospitality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had an unforgettable experience. Their warmth and kindness made us feel like part of the family, just like a traditional Bengali household. And then there's the decoration - wow! The ambiance was elegant and cozy, with thoughtful touches that created a welcoming atmosphere. From the stylish lighting to the beautiful artwork, every detail was meticulously curated to create a feast for the eyes. The decor perfectly captured the essence of Bengali culture, with its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Overall, I'd give Bengla Bhoj a resounding 5 stars. If you're looking for a culinary haven that will delight your taste buds, warm your heart, and inspire your senses with true Bengali vibes, look no further! Can't wait to return and indulge in another...

The food quality is very poor, Pulao was pre cooked, they mentioned that they have to heat it up and give it and while received, it was burnt, may be they over heated it, chitol kaliya was heavily dry-fried, it was very hard and tasted old. Now coming to the most disgusting part, there were fish bones inside the chicken we ate, they tried to deny that but I showed them on spot and it was really disgusting. We gave the entire dish back but shamelessly they took 559 rupees even for that.

The manager(a guy in white shirt) had a very rude behaviour. He directly put the blame on us saying that we were lying and it is impossible that the chicken has fish bones inside.

The overall order took more than 1.5 hours to be delivered even the starters were more than an hour late.

I asked 4 waiters for two glasses, none of them had the time to give that, then had to go to another chair and take glasses from there.

Overall one of the most disgusting experiences ever.

Thanks for ruining our day!! I would suggest do visit here if you really want to...

Although the ambiance is so good, let's talk about the food. Honestly, I had higher hopes, I saw many good reviews on Google and had so many reels of different influencers popping on my feed. But, the food was so below average, it only looks good in pictures. We ordered the Babu Bhai Thali, it was around 1200 INR (excluding the added taxes). Every single item was cold, the mishti doi was meh and the gulab jamun was weird, the chingri was a disaster, the chicken was below average, if not terrible. I literally don't get the hype around the restaurant. A big 👎 for the food, but a 👍 for the vibe and ambiance. I would suggest the owner to put some attention on the food quality, because the restaurant has potential. Also, the handwash at the wash basins didn't have any liquid in it, just putting it out here.

My mom, dad, and some relatives went here today where the service was not good. Despite my parents being senior citizens, they had to repeatedly ask the waiter because they waited for a ample amount of time for their food. Even after receiving one or two items, they had to remind the waiter to serve the rest. My mom, who had never in her life gone up to the counter to speak to a manager, had to do so to ask for the next item. The service was terrible, and they also overcharged us for a veg item " shukto" , serving just one plate but billing us for two. My father saw the name of the item but didn't check the quantity as he was very disappointed, We don't want the money back, we just want to ensure this doesn't happen to others in the future.
