Damruwala Restaurant, nestled near the iconic Mahakal Temple in Ujjain, is a culinary gem that beckons food enthusiasts and pilgrims alike. This eatery has carved a niche for itself, primarily owing to its exquisite rendition of the traditional Rajasthani dish, Dal Bati Churma, which has become synonymous with a visit to Ujjain. The ambiance at Damruwala is a harmonious blend of modern comfort and cultural heritage. The rustic charm of Rajasthani decor elements harmonizes with contemporary amenities, creating an inviting atmosphere that welcomes guests with warmth and hospitality. Now, onto the star of the show - the Dal Bati Churma. Served piping hot, the batis (baked wheat balls) are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, infused with ghee that adds a rich, indulgent flavor. Accompanied by flavorful dal (lentil curry) and a delectable churma (sweet crumbled wheat dessert), this dish is a symphony of tastes and textures that leaves a lasting impression on every palate. Aside from its signature dish, Damruwala's menu boasts a diverse range of Rajasthani and North Indian delicacies, each crafted with care and authenticity. From fragrant biryanis to aromatic curries, every dish is a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs. The service at Damruwala is commendable, with attentive staff members who ensure a seamless dining experience for patrons. Whether it's a quick bite before exploring the temple or a leisurely meal with loved ones, the restaurant caters to various dining preferences with efficiency and courtesy. Damruwala Restaurant in Ujjain near Mahakal Temple stands out as a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of Rajasthani cuisine. With its flavorful Dal Bati Churma, inviting ambiance, and top-notch service, it promises a memorable dining experience that lingers in the hearts and minds of guests long after their visit.

The place is slightly overhyped. What else do you expect me to say if they are going to serve me "Lauki ki sabji" with not a string of innovation in it (I've eaten Karele ki sabjii at places but they fundamentally altered the usual taste such that I really fell for it. But not here). But it's not a downvote. Just that it doesn't stack up to expectations. It's hygienic and basic stuff. And the best part is the price. At 180 Rupees which is the priciest thali (thali is all that they serve), it's heaven for people on a tight budget. And it's 'all you can eat'. Go there if you are not too particular about taste. The taste is ok. No great shakes really. But it's decent. It'd satiate your hunger. And many times that's all you actually need. I have noticed that the food culture in Ujjain is a bit lukewarm.

Hi guys.. Visited Ujjain for darshan of Mahakal.. For lunch visited this place. They serve thali system also have separate dishes menu.. Regarding food it was best veg thali we ever had.. Simple home cooked food feeling.. For 180 rupees, they have thali also ahe 2-3 option in thali that is unlimited like roti, rice dal bhaji its unlimited. Sweet raita salad papad is limited served only 1 time. The quality of the food was awesome, the bhaji dal rice roti was really good and filled our heart more than stomach. You should really try there raita I really liked it very much.. Overall I recommend this place for lunch it is near to mandir on 1st floor. Food - 10/10.

This place dosent even deserve 1 star and there are many reasons for it: First of all, pathetic service the staff/reception/owner dosent have basic atiquetts to serve customer. When we visited this place on 4.10.24 at night, we had to ask for everything like glasses, water and to clean the table. Secondly, 2-3 people came to take the order but none was bothered to serve the food. We had to wait and wait and after half an hour the food that was served in installements like we were served daal but we were made to wait for roti. The serving size was deliberately made so small that you will get irritated or leave the food when we objected to this nobody was bothered to listen. Lastly, when we called the manager/owner (guy wearing broad gold chain) who seems to be local goon by the way, instead of listening to our complaint, tried to threaten us. Obviously he failed miserably and we were left with no option but to leave. Howerver they spoiled our night our mood. So, overall it was nightmare as we had a horrible experience there. Therefore, I would suggest you all to simply avoid this place specially if you are travelling with family. This should be at number 1 among places to be avoided in Ujjain. I am writing this long review just to save other innocent people from going through the same experince that we had at this horrible place called "Damruwala...

Disappointing Experience at Hotel Damruwala

I recently visited Hotel Damruwala in Ujjain for lunch, and it was a highly disappointing experience. We tried the Dal Bati, Sev Bhaji, and Roti, but the food quality was far below expectations. The Dal was bland, the Bati was dry and hard, and the Sev Bhaji not had taste and freshness. Even the Roti was poorly made. To top it off, they charged extra for even a small serving of onion, which is unheard of at most restaurants.

On top of the poor food quality, the service was slow and unprofessional. The staff seemed uninterested in serving us, and we had to wait longer than expected for our meal.

Considering the reputation of this place, I had high hopes for a decent meal, but I left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for good food or proper service.

I definitely won’t...
