Title: Mixed Culinary Experience at Shree Jee Restaurant, Ujjain
After completing Darshan at Mahakal, I was eager to break my fast and decided to dine at Shree Jee Restaurant in Ujjain. My initial order—a half portion of paneer kadai served with tawa roti and a refreshing glass of chaas—was absolutely delightful. The flavors were authentic and the spices were perfectly balanced, making it a truly satisfying start to my meal.
Encouraged by the first experience, I opted to try another half portion, this time ordering the mix veg. To my surprise, the dish turned out to be exactly the same as the paneer kadai. When I inquired with the waiter about the similarity, I was informed that there was no paneer in the mix veg dish; instead, they added more veggies to maintain a consistent gravy flavor. While I appreciate consistency, this revelation left me a bit disappointed, as I was expecting a distinct variation between the two dishes.
Overall, the experience at Shree Jee Restaurant was a mixed bag. Although the initial dish was delicious and the ambiance comfortable, the lack of clear differentiation between the two menu items dampened the overall dining experience. For future diners, especially those breaking fast after a spiritual visit, I recommend clarifying your order to avoid any culinary surprises. Based on my visit, I’d rate Shree Jee Restaurant 3 stars.

Read moreI had one of the worst dining experiences at Shreeji Restaurant recently. The food served was completely uncooked and inedible—a basic standard that any restaurant should meet. But that wasn’t even the worst part.
When we politely raised our concern, instead of showing any sense of responsibility or customer service, the staff responded with rude and arrogant behavior. There was no apology, no replacement, and definitely no courtesy. It honestly felt like they didn’t care at all about their customers or their experience.
This kind of treatment and quality is unacceptable, especially when you're paying your hard-earned money. I would never recommend this place to anyone—not for dining in, not for takeout, not even for free.

I visited this restaurant near Mahakaleshwar Temple for a light dinner before the Night Aarti and ordered dal khichdi with tadka. They served the spiciest dal khichdi I've ever had. When I complained, they simply removed the excess oil but left the unbearable spice. I requested raita instead, but they brought buttermilk with tomatoes and onions. Despite returning the food, they refused to remove it from the bill, arguing I had ordered it. The staff was uncooperative, and the experience was frustrating. In my whole trip to Ujjain only this restaurant was an awful experience. Poor service, bad food quality, and zero regard for...
