One of the best Chinese Restaurants in Lucknow. Probably the best for the old style "Indian Chinese" taste.
Been going here for last 30-35 years, but went after a break of 5 years, and was pleased to find that the taste hasn't changed too much over time.
Their signature dishes are dry-boneless chilli chicken, garlic or ginger chicken. For vegetarians, their Manchurian is pretty good. Soups and Spring Rolls are good too. Noodles and Fried rice are okay.
Also the dishes size are fine. Service is good and fast. Prices are on the higher side.
Few logistics challenges though:
Parking is very minimal around this restaurant, so best to park your vehicle in the nearby underground parking, which is open till 10PM.
The restaurant is undergoing renovations, so hopefully the space inside, and between tables will improve. Right now, the seating space and table sizes are very tight.
This place is not for luxury seekers or fine dining enthusiasts, as the Ambience, Sitting and Eating comfort etc is minimal.
Summary, it's a good old style restaurant for "Indian" chinese...
Read moreChung fa is no longer the place it used to be. It is now an expensive, low quality joint with slow service.
We ordered quite a few things. The chicken sweet corn soup was slightly smelly. We had ordered chicken wontons which they messed up and got veg wontons which too were average. The prawns in hot garlic sauce was the only good thing. The noodles and rice were absolutely average. Chill chicken dry was not only hard but also it just seemed like fried chicken with a lot of chopped chillies and no sauce at all.
The order took beyond 40 mins to be completed which is slow service, especially given how they weren't at full capacity and had tables vacant.
We paid about 3k for all of this, which is not the issue, but the cost in relation to the food quality is a major issue. The chilli chicken in itself cost 750 rupees which made no sense to me.
Overall, it was a poor experience and I'd suggest the restaurant implement a sway of changes if they wish to survive, let alone grow. The city now has plenty of great asain places and gone are the days when chung fa was the...
Read morePeople who are praising food of this restaurant must be the relatives and friends of the owner. I am foodie and know very much about authentic Chinese food. They even dont know how to make basic chinese dish chicken manchurian and chicken fried rice.. Even on streets you can find more tasty chinese. My first dish was- chicken manchurian but there was no soy souce, red sauce and veggies in manchurian.. It was oily pakoras only.. No taste just oil. My second dish was - chicken chowmin, they gave just a simple chowmin and they sprinkle some cold boiled shredded chicken.. When i asked them that this is not chicken chowmin you just put little cold, bland chicken on top of it, he said humare yaha aise hi milta hai. I mean i can't imagine that i have paid 800 for these two dish. I dont know why this place is over hyped anf over priced.. They even dont have proper place to sit. Never...
