Jaina Restaurant, located near the iconic Ghanta Ghar in Dehradun, has long held a reputation for its timeless classics – especially their pakode and samose. These snacks have been a staple for years and continue to draw loyal customers.
On my recent visit, I decided to explore beyond the snacks and try their North Indian menu, which is served in their AC seating area on the first floor. The ambience was simple but comfortable – a good spot to unwind and enjoy a hearty meal.
The menu offers a wide variety of North Indian and Chinese options, giving plenty of choice for both traditional and Indo-Chinese lovers. I ordered Mix Veg with Tandoori Butter Roti – the portion size was generous and more than enough for one person’s dinner. The flavors were homely and satisfying, well-balanced for the price point.
A special mention to the service staff, especially the boy attending our table – his cheerful attitude and helpful nature added a warm touch to the overall experience.
Overall, Jaina Restaurant is a great choice if you’re looking for a value-for-money meal in central Dehradun. Whether it’s a quick snack or a full North Indian dinner, they’ve got you covered with decent taste, good service, and...
Read moreFound this place with Google for Jain food in Dehradoon. Very disappointed with the experience. Although the owner tried to accommodate Jain dietary requirements, but the quality of food was below par. To begin with place is not clean and quite dated. Furniture, walls, fans, fixtures, washroom all looked very old and dirty. Glimpse in the kitchen - very dirty. Rice and daal were not properly cooked. Tandoori roties have fragments of coal from tandoor. When asked from the owner and the cooks they were unable to tell what kind of oil, or other ingredients they are using. Jain food is renowned for its extremely conscious practice of hygienic preparation of fresh food with filtered water but unfortunately this place doesn't seem to care about that. Even upon feedback they don't feel receptive. Pricing is at par with any fine dining restaurant with an average 200+ per item. May be its in a busy railway station area so they get budget traveling customers who are not repeat for fine dining. Won't recommend anyone going there thinking to specifically get Jain food. They definitely have a potential to improve the overall quality and become a go to place for fine dining for vegetarian customers...
Read moreUsed to visit Jaina restaurant years before with my Dad for a quick bite. That was back in 2010-2011. My Dad loved their Samosa.
Visited back to the same place today and it's sad to see that the quality of their food & services and not matching as per the industry standards.
Due to Covid, one should be very careful about their hygiene and surroundings but I've found that the hygiene now is least of their concern and also they are unable to retain the Old taste.
Visited the restaurant today with my cousin and we've ordered Chole Bhature and Paneer Pakode. Paneer pakode was pathetic. Just a lump of paneer covered in besan and fried. No proper Masala, nothing.
Chole bhature was Okay'ish.
Overall a very old shop with the highest potential to be the market leader in their food segment but doing absolutely...
