Visited this shop a couple of times, may be 5/6, during last 4 years. First of all, there is no doubt this shop carrying the legacy of Late Adhar Chandra Das, keping the pace with changing time. Though it is specially famous for SARPURIA and SARBHAJA,(both are undoubtedly tasty) you will always find many more delicious sweet items to taste. One more plus point is that their stock is huge, you will never return in empty hand. As per my personal opinion, taste of SARPURIA is better than SARBHAJA.,though the rate is cheaper for earlier one. Now I want to draw your notice towards a few aspect. Counter salesman will not give you/ reluctant to give any carrying pack with sweet packets. If you are taking sweets 1.5K or 2 K or more then they may give you carrying bag(very thin & low quality jute bag, unable to take load of 1 kg properly) if you demand, otherwise not. So it is very troublesome to carry those sweets for outstations customers. My point is that, if people can purchase sweets fot Rs.1/2/3 thousands, then they are very much capable of paying extra 5/10 rupees as packing charge(good quality jute bag). Shop owner should make this provision available. Most of the time you will find rush here. So it is totally inconvenient to taste all the sweets you see and like, standing here. Forget about seating arrangement, even you can't stand here idle for a minute without any push/pull from other customers. Their selling procedure is also inconvenient and troublesome for those customers who wants to eat sweets as per his /her choice one by one, standing here. Every time you select a sweet, first you have to take a coupon from coupon counter against payment, then you have to submit it delivery counter after waiting in a queue, then only you will get that sweet. For a single piece or bulk, you have to follow the same procedure. One thing that I found,is contradictory to their ethics. They claim that they are making the SARPURIA in that formula only which was famous from old times. But they are selling two category of that, one is NORMAL(cheaper) and other is SPECIAL(costlier). Then which one is original old formula based? 😃 Now, the last thing I must say that prices of sweets here are at very much higher end, in spite of keeping the taste in mind. Not an ideal shop for lower economic group customers. But, if you are capable, it is worthy to visit at...
Read moreI recently visited this popular sweet shop in Krishnanagar, having heard a lot about their sarpuriya and sarvaja. I traveled from Jalangi with high expectations. When I got to the shop, I asked for the special versions of both sweets, which were priced at ₹30 each, making my total bill ₹60.
However, after tasting them, I found that the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype. The sweets were quite sugary, and I couldn’t detect any unique flavor that would set them apart from regular milk sweets. Considering the price, I was expecting something more distinctive. In fact, similar quality sweets are available in Jalangi for ₹8.
I would like to suggest that the management consider improving the quality and flavor of the sweets to match the expectations set by their reputation. It's important to deliver an experience that customers will come back for.
For those in Jalangi, if you're looking for good quality sarvaja, I recommend checking out Jai Ma Tara Misthanna Bhandar in Domkal, where you can find it for just...
