I’ve been a regular customer at Hi Spirits Café, Siliguri City Centre — mostly visiting with my family for lunch. The food and ambience were always decent, and that kept us coming back.

But on Saturday, I faced blatant discrimination that left me shocked and embarrassed.

I had a guest visiting from Kolkata and was accompanied by one of my team members. We planned a casual evening at this place, expecting a warm welcome. Instead, we were denied entry simply because we were a group of men. The staff coldly told us: "Only couples allowed."

Is this a café or a club promoting outdated gender policies?
