Mehak-e-Punjab — Restaurant in West Bengal

I've only been here once, but on May 2, 2022, the food was excellent. We wanted drinks with dinner so we sat on the bar side. The atmosphere was also nice--low-lit, music not too loud (if you want loud music, Backyards a few doors down is pretty loud-- initially our plan was to eat there but the music was too loud for conversation so we made a hasty decisions to eat here instead).

We are visiting from Texas and went out to celebrate with our local family. We ordered papad (one of the best we've had--could have used chutney but very good), dragon chicken appetizer (my 8yo son loved it-- he said it was very spicy but couldn't stop eating it), Amritsari kebab (juicy, tender, very flavorful), chicken saagwala (perfect) and another chicken dish in a cream sauce-- I don't remember what that one was called--by then I was getting very full but it was great, roti (?), lime soda (sweet and salty, highly recommend).

Service was slower than we're used to in the US, but when the food was served it was done politely and attentively. ...

An absolutely ridiculous restaurant. The waiters are nothing but looters. They charged us of items that did not even exist in the actual menu. One of the Waiters served us food he termed "Special". In the name of Special food, they charged us out on their own. We had to pay 400 Rs. for something that was priced 340 Rs. We discussed about this with the manager, even the Manager was someone fooling the customers as well. Absolutely Pathetic experience. Never going to visit this horrible restaurant. Mehak E Punjab is an upscale restaurant situated at the 4th floor of Junction Mall. It's speciality is serving various North Indian Cuisines. The bar setup is also decent. The cuisines are decent, it's just that the quality of the food has detoriated over time. The signature cuisines of Punjabi chicken and paneer are the best options here .
