Visited the much-hyped Madras Food Walk in Porur and tried pretty much every shop there. While the idea of multiple food options under one roof is great, the execution left quite a bit to be desired.
Podi Idli was decent, nothing extraordinary – felt like a safe choice if you're not feeling adventurous.
Ma Po - didn’t impress at all – lacked flavor and freshness. Not recommended.
The biryani at Kari Virundhu was a big letdown. Tasted like it had been frozen and reheated, nowhere close to fresh or flavorful. Not recommended.
On the brighter side, the tandoori at the last shop was good, and worth a try.
Couple of letdowns that stood out:
Not a single shop offered free drinking water.
All items were priced above ₹100+, which wouldn't be a problem if the quality matched the cost – but sadly, it didn’t.
Final verdict: If you’re okay spending on average food in a trendy setting, it might work for a casual hangout. Otherwise, you’re better off waiting – there’s word of a new Mannar restaurant coming up in the area, and hopefully, it raises the bar.
