During our recent visit to Dindigul Thalapakatti Biryani, we were eager to indulge in their renowned culinary offerings, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant, known for its authentic South Indian flavors, was bustling with activity, a testament to its popularity among locals and tourists alike. The dim lighting created a cozy ambiance that made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We decided to try the Chicken 65 Biryani, a dish that perfectly balanced aromatic spices and tender chicken, all enveloped in fragrant rice. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity. Alongside this, we ordered Veg Fried Rice, which was equally impressive. The rice was perfectly cooked, complemented by an array of fresh vegetables that added both color and crunch to the dish.
Despite the crowd, the restaurant maintained a commendable level of hygiene, which is always a crucial factor when dining out. However, we did notice some areas where cleanliness could be improved, which is something we hope they address in the future. The parking facilities were also well-managed, ensuring that we could enjoy our meal without the stress of finding a spot. Overall, our experience at Dindigul Thalapakatti was thoroughly enjoyable, and we left with satisfied appetites and fond memories of the delicious food and inviting atmosphere. We look forward to returning and trying more dishes from their extensive menu!

As a guy from Calicut, where biryani holds a special place in our hearts, I’ve always been a bit picky about where I get my biryani fix. When I visited Dindigul Thalappakkatti in Chennai, I was pleasantly surprised. While nothing beats the iconic Malabar biryani back home, Thalappakkatti brings its own unique twist that’s hard to ignore. The first thing that stood out was the vibe. It was simple, unpretentious, but full of warmth, just like any good South Indian eatery. The staff were friendly, making sure everything was in place and the experience felt relaxed and comfortable.
Now, let’s talk about the Thalappakkatti Biryani itself. I won’t lie, this biryani is different from what we’re used to in Calicut, but it’s definitely got its own charm. The rice was perfectly cooked, with a distinct aroma that hit you the moment it was placed on the table. The mutton, though not as rich as our local version, was tender and packed with flavor. The spices were well-balanced, giving it that unique Dindigul flavor. I also loved the Mutton Kola (meatballs), something we don’t usually get back home, and the Raita, which paired wonderfully with the biryani. The only thing that took me a bit by surprise was the pricing, which was a little higher than what I’m used to back in Calicut, but the taste and quality made it worthwhile. All in all, if you're in Chennai and craving biryani, Dindigul Thalappakkatti is definitely worth the visit, even if you’re a proud Calicut...
Read moreThey are just trying to highlight the name ‘THALAPPAKATTI’. Beyond that nothing is worth mentionable. It would not have been this worse, if the care they had taken in Preparing Menu Sheet (Vocabulary as if things mentioned are literally genuine) , Counting Profits, Dress Code of employees and other not so essentials, is same as that of checking the extent of Poor Hospitality Adulterated taste instead of Authentic Affordability for common people Micro management Quantity served is too Little etc.. are to be highlighted. #Experience @ George Town Branch: Ordered for Chicken Biryani (Boneless) & they’ve served the biriyani with 4 micro chicken pieces and 6-7 huge sized capsicum pieces. When I asked the waiter to call the Manager, he introduced some other waiter as Manager. We couldn’t say anything as no other accountable person is present over there. (An example of Micro-Management and Poor Hospitality) I wish atleast now, they start realising how a Customer should be treated.
