Alponte Ristorante — Restaurant in Bali

I have been to Alponte when it first opened… teething problems with service but food was ok. Last year service was mildly better and food also… Tonight we dined with group of 7. Two bottles of Chianti and pick up service made evening tolerable however everything else was honestly woeful. Service was awful. Not enough staff to provide any semblance of care or interest in patrons. We had to wait over 30 minutes to place a drink order. All of our meals came out at wildly different times. Food was just passable (except burrata pizza which actually was very good) - dry spaghetti marinara with crust, dry grilled prawns, grilled chicken, just okay bolognese and amatriciana pastas. 4 million IDR for 4 entrees/7 mains/2 cocktails/2 milkshakes and 2 bottles of Chianti (750k each do admittedly 1/2 bill but only part that was worth it). Kids everywhere belonging to a group of Dutch expats who literally told them to play at opposite end of restaurant that they were sitting. Total shambles tonight and I will not be repeating that experience ever again. Do better! Good bones with no interest/ active management - such a shame.

EDITED TO ADJUST SERVICE RATING (14) !!! Today Alponte management reached out to me to apologise for our experience last night and offer a complimentary pizza delivered to our villa as amends. We couldn’t all enjoy this as some of us left today but I forwarded the message to my family staying on Lembongan that dined with us last night and Alponte delivered them a delicious lunch of 2 pizzas and a gnocchi so they are very happy. I must say I’m impressed with the after service and hopefully next time I go to Alponte we will get that same service at the time...

Lovely place and setting with a great view. Staff were friendly and polite but service wasn't great. They brought my friend's pasta to him before the appetizer arrived (even though we had both ordered pasta dishes) and then when we told them just asked if he wanted them to take it back...we werent really sure it had been freshly made as it came out so quickly. Carbonara is a simple dish but it can't be made in 5 minutes when the restaurant is busy, i shouldn't imagine. We had the caprese salad which had a mushy tomato and no dressing so I asked for olive oil. It was not olive oil, or had been heavily blended with vegetable/other oil. My dish arrived well after the rest of the food had been finished. I had seafood spaghetti and the sauce tasted incredibly sweet and the spaghetti was so overcooked you couldn't even twirl it, it just broke apart. If I had to guess, the spaghetti in both dishes had been precooked 😬 It's a shame because you can tell from looking it's an authentic Italian menu someone put a lot of thought into. We'd been told that it was owned/run by an Italian but there was certainly not an Italian chef or staff trained by an Italian chef there last night. As is standard in Bali, the wine is overpriced and was borderline drinkable (we tried a pinot grigio and a very yellow sav blanc). The pizzas we saw coming out looked pretty OK...

Stopped for a bite to eat at this little Italian restaurant very close to Ceningan Island.

In the evening time, the view across to the Island was absolutely amazing, the bar itself was really nice very well decorated with a small pool inside the restaurant if you fancy chilling out with your feet in the water or just relaxing in the little pool overlooking the small estuary that comes in from the sea is an absolute delight to sit and have a meal here on the side of the water.

Of course the main dishes are all Italian, but there are some of the speciality dishes are available in the restaurant menu.

I tried the lasagna. Be careful if you don’t have a big stomach. This dish is absolutely huge. It was like a lasagne volcano.

The drinks menu is very expensive very nice a lot of nice cool fruit juices. I had a lime water lime sparkling water which was very tasty very fresh. .

The overall dining experience was very nice with the view with the common surroundings obviously the restaurant got very busy as it is very well situated and it seems a lot of people visit the restaurant in the evening. It was full capacity.

The staff were very nice, very welcoming very friendly. The service was very fast as usual in Bali everything to do with...
