Here’s a well-structured and polite version of your Google Maps review — honest, detailed, but respectful in tone:
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5
I came to this café hoping to enjoy a nutritious meal and get a little work done, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing from start to finish.
First off, I respect the café’s policy of not allowing laptops — that’s totally fair. However, there was no phone charging option in sight, and the Wi-Fi, while technically available, wasn’t functioning. As a tourist without reliable mobile data, this made things quite difficult.
Still, I decided to stay for the food… and that turned out to be the most disappointing part. I ordered the Kiev breakfast, and honestly, it was one of the worst meals I’ve had in Bali. The hashbrowns were extremely oily, the salmon was roughly cut with bones still in it (I couldn’t even finish it and I love salmon), and the poached eggs were undercooked with clear, runny egg whites. The whole dish left me feeling heavy and slightly unwell, despite being very hungry when I arrived.
I also ordered a chamomile tea, hoping to enjoy it during my meal and take the rest home to unwind later but to my surprise, they didn’t have any to-go cups available.
Add to that a ~20-minute wait for the food and a final bill that was 50–70% more expensive than similar spots nearby, and overall, I walked away feeling frustrated. The atmosphere was nice, but that alone doesn’t make up for the poor food and lack of functionality.
I’m giving 3 stars only because I appreciate the ambiance and want to be fair otherwise, this would’ve been a 1-star review. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this place, and it genuinely made my day worse.
Oh and did I mention the uncomfortable...

Breakfast – FAIL!!!
I ordered the following dishes: • Home Crammble Truffle Egg • Grilled Truffle Cheese Toast • Smashed Avocado with Chili Oil
The Home Crammble Truffle Egg tasted good. However, I had to wait more than 45 minutes for the Grilled Truffle Cheese Toast, even though only three tables in the café were occupied and all other guests had already been served.
The service staff, especially the waitress, were very friendly and attentive. She asked the kitchen several times about my order because she also noticed the unusually long waiting time. The problem clearly came from the kitchen. “The Chef” in the kitchen became upset because the waitress kept checking. I understood the tensions in the kitchen since I speak Balinese as my mother tongue – even though my appearance may have suggested I was just a “local-looking” tourist.
When my dish finally arrived, it was unfortunately not properly toasted, but soft and unappetizing. The team came together to my table, explained the situation (apparently the toaster was broken), and offered me the dish for free, along with a cheesecake as a kind gesture. I politely declined and returned the dish.
I would like to highlight the service staff in particular: attentive, polite, and very customer-oriented. However, the criticism must be directed at the kitchen: • A grilled toast should not take 45 minutes. • If there are technical problems, they should be communicated openly and in a timely manner.
Overall, the service was excellent, but the kitchen performance was very...

HOME Café in Canggu boasts a lovely design and inviting interior that initially draws you in with its aesthetic appeal. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making it a great spot to unwind. Additionally, the café offers good parking for motorbikes, although car parking can be a challenge.
However, my experience took a turn when I was greeted by a significant amount of smoke from the kitchen. Unfortunately, this overwhelming smell left me with a headache by the end of my visit, significantly detracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Proper ventilation is crucial in a dining space, and the smoke issue needs urgent attention to create a more pleasant atmosphere for guests.
The food itself was decent, providing a satisfactory selection, but it didn’t quite stand out. Sadly, the juices and shakes fell flat, lacking the freshness and flavor one would expect from a café of this caliber.
On a positive note, the staff at HOME Café were friendly and attentive, which is always a plus in any dining experience. They did their best to provide good service despite the challenges presented by the environment.
In summary, while HOME Café Canggu has great potential with its design and friendly staff, the smoke ventilation issue is a significant drawback that overshadows the overall experience. Until this concern is addressed, I personally would be hesitant to return, as a comfortable dining atmosphere is essential for a pleasant meal.
